While i was talking with Dan and his dad about the MS3, we got on the subject of lighting and how the fog lights need to be brighter. So i got to thinking if i could find a pair of Silverstars that work how much of a pain in the ass would it be to change out the fog lights? do i need to take off the front bumper, or put it up on ramps?

I think you could do it with the car up on Ramps. Its a couple bolts that hold the fog assembly's in, not sure if you have to take them out to replace the bulbs or not (just remember removing them when I did the halos). If they (Silverstars) have an application that fits the fogs that'd be cool.

if you want some bright ass lights, get some HIR type bulbs from john deere. Ill be doing that soon just need to get off my butt and call them.
EDIT: ok finally found the model you need:
9012 low beam HIR from a 9000 series tractor. they will fit 9005 and 9006 if you clip the tab. They are much better in build quality, lighting and will last longer than those SS's.
9011 = 9005
9012 = 9006

I was testing it out driving home last night, and turning the fog lights on/off doesn't do anything for my visibility when there's no fog... I have the HIDs though, so that might have something to do with it.

yeah with the HID's the fogs dont do much for me either, but Im going to get the HIR's for the highbeams and fogs.

i'm thinking that when i get the music keg from matt i may pick up some SS ultras to replace the factory stock bulbs, then have an install party at the house.

You want bright fogs, then go HID fogs, thats what I did. I got a pair of 6000k Apexcone, ran indy fog mod, and now driving with only my halos and fogs, it looks sick as hell. Any other bulb choice will only give you minor gains in brightness, compairitively. Next up for me in the lighting department is some HID high beams.

You can replace the fog light bulbs with the car up on ramps. If you take the splash shield off, you can remove a few screws that hold the front part of the wheel well covers to the bottom of the bumper. Just carefully peel back the front part, and then you'll be looking at the backside of the fog lamp assembly, with the bulb right there. IIRC there's a page in the manual that explains how to do this.

You've got 9006 HID's in your fogs? How is the flare on those?

Think they are H11s. Light pattern is bad with the 05 fog lamps, and I haven't pulled the center relector, which should help with light output, and might blind people as well. But It looks really good, I guess they are more cosmetic then functional.
where did you get those lights spek?
