View Full Version : Wednesday Meet Idea. **PLEASE READ**
Ok, this was something tossed out tonight and for the summer a few thought it was a good idea, so lets poll it quick. We all know Porkys is a very fun hangout. The only downfall is the limited menu. Red Robin however proved tonight to be a solid choice. Good food, not overly expensive, lots of parking, and they have several locations. So what if we simply set up a rotation as follows:
week 1 - Red Robin off hwy 55 in Plymouth
week 2 - Porkys on Uni
week 3 - Red Robin in Apple Valley
Week 4 - Pokrys on Uni
It was just keeping it at the RR in Plymouth, but I think the southern folk could use an event in their area once a month.
If you simply say yay or nay and the your reason or suggestion I'll count it up. Don't comment on anyone else, just one post per person who genarally attends the Wed night meets.
Then I'll set them up in the Calendar so that whenever one is coming up a new thread is created automaticly and we get our reminder and this that way.
Simple, to the point, and we get our variety that we need.

Meh. I don't know. If people want Red Robins give the people Red Robins, I would probably only show up once in a while to Red Robins.

RR = win! Also, the one in AV should be pretty close to you.

Yeah, I am partial to Porky's as well. But, if people want to meet at RR, thats fine.

Ya its close to home but Porkys is close to work so it doesn't make a difference to me. I know the meets aren't all about me, lol. The nice thing about Porkys is I can bring my dog with me so she doesn't have to be home kenneled up for 8 hours and I don't have to spend $15 on a burger and some beers.

The fact we can sit around and shoot the sh*t and not have to buy anything and tip anyone and be outside makes porkies full of win.

You can buy a $2 soda and sit and BS all night for $3-4 ... not like it's a ton of money. I like the idea of having both to mix it up both in location and setting.

See, Porkys is made of win as far as i'm concerned. It's a great time, the food is mad cheap, and there's room for dogs, shenanigans, and whatever else.

Stupid Texas. Who likes that place anyhow?
Honestly, I'd probably only show up to Porky's. For me the big thing is being OUTSIDE in the summer hanging out. I don't need to have food/drink even be a part of it and it wouldn't be as fun for me to hang out inside a Red Robin.
For the winter having meets at bars/restaurants was fine because of the weather. But in the summer I want to be outside in the nice weather and preferably at a place that's condusive to hanging out like Porky's. And a place where checking out/talking about cars comes first. I don't see myself sitting around the parking lot of a Red Robin.

I think the idea of splitting the venue is a needless complication. Porky's is pretty central for everyone and it's a great summer hangout place. If we want to hang out at a RR or Boston's or somewhere else, they could be planned on an ad hoc basis for a different night.
I also don't see what is so overly limited in the Porky's menu. It's a burger joint and the buffalo chicken rules.

Plus all you really need to know is the onion rings!
Seriously, planning anything is just fucking stupid right now. A simple yay or nay to the idea was all i wanted to get so we could get a MAJORITY opinion, and then it goes off kilter again. Sorry, Porkys gets fucking old for an every week occurance and I can only take so much of the RC cars and shit that attracts the cops to the area like mad. Is it fun, umm, fuck yeah it is, but do I want a change of pace every so often? Yup. I'm done trying to plan and please.
Oh, and I don't not show up because I can't afford the gas ot life after for the rest of the week, I generally just have other shit going on and last summer was a really busy one for us with the housing changes. Meets in the metro will often end up where the majority flock. Can't afford the gas for the 15 mile trip? Let off the gas pedal or get a honda.
/END RANT. I'm going to get shitfaced tonight. With Hamms!
Plus all you really need to know is the onion rings!
Oh, and does anyone else think their rings taste like shit? :pc:

Dude, I understand. Porkys isn't for everyone, and that's totally cool. I don't make every meet, because I don't have finances. Porkys is close to my home, so it works for me. AV is close to my home, so money permitting, I'd be down for a burger. My big hangup is I don't want to go the opposite direction of home right after work in the middle of the week. I hate being out late on a weeknight ( it bugs the hell out of me. ) so when we have a meet like that, and I leave plymouth, unless i'm hammer down the whole way, it makes it a minimum 30min drive, instead of the 10 for Porkys. I'm all for diversifying the meets, seems to keep people coming. But my stance is as said.

Which is why 3 of those 4 monthly meet would work for you then. Hell, I'd probably end up heading to at least one in AV over the summer. I'm just fucking irritated cause it seems like everyone wants every meet to be within their means, and that just aint going to fucking happen as we grow. So if I have to be a dick and get people fired up to have them realize that, so be it. We are growing, we need to realize the more members we have the less majority we will appeal to.

Well, let's put it to a poll. The biggest problem we have is yeah, we attract a ton of new members as of late, but it's too early to make a determination as to who is where and stuff like that, and as a result, far too difficult at this stage (at least IMO) to decide what meet spot is the best meet spot. Hell, just to be assholes, we could start meeting at the Porkys on Central, and all get shot at.
The idea of this thread was a poll, but people couldn't read engrish.

So a 20 minute difference is being out late? Wow.
Anyways, I don't care where we meet, my point was more to the fact that it's more fun to hang out outside with the cars, check out people's mods, see new members cars, etc.
Meeting at Red Robin to me is not as condusive to that kind of hanging out. Not to mention what if 20 people show up to a Red Robin and you need tables for everyone. Also I don't know how cool Red Robin management is about groups that large hanging out or potentially hanging out in their parking lot. Whereas at Porky's that's not an issue. Or if we find a location in Plymouth and Apple Valley where our group hanging out would work that'd be cool.

As for outdoors at AV, my only suggestion is kick the ricers out of McDonalds and take that over.

Alright I agree that the porky's environment is nice for a car meet, it's outisde, they dont care if you fill the lot up, etc. At the same time though their food isn't really all that great, and a little variety is nice.
We had 12-13 people, maybe more at RR last night, and we had room for more, they had no issues with it, and afterwards we were out in the lot hanging out, taking pictures, and shootin the shit. If it were going to be a weekly/monthly thing I'd consider talking to their managment and seeing how they feel, but I'd highly doubt they would care.
I find it entertaining that everyone bitches about locations being too far away, taking too long to get home, etc. Really 15-20 miles isn't shit once every week or two, and then we put up an idea to move the meet around the metro so it's close to more people at least some of the time, and everyone has a fit and says thats wtf why would you do that.
Porky's really isn't a convieient spot for me, i get off work to early to go strait there, and It's on the opposite side of the world from me, so its drive home, then drive in rushour all the way there... I didn't bitch last year, and if it stays there every day this year, I'll probably be there most of the time, but I sure think it would be nice to have some meets in different parts of the city so it's not a long as drive for some EVERY time and a very close drive for others EVERY time...

Back on topic, why don't we do Porkys and then randomly switch it up once in a while for the hell of it?
Just an idea... obviously not all of us are going to agree and I'll just go with the flow.

I think that's the way to do it. The majority of people seem to have liked porky's, but variety isn't a bad thing. we seem to have no problem coming up with impromptu ideas, so lets just keep that going.

Agreed. This is what I was trying to say, but Jay put it better.
Red Robin also has to go orders and a nice grassy hill to sit and relax on if we wanted. It's not just about sitting inside.
It's staying at Porkys.
