I just watched a couple short vids on the upcoming supercar from Lexus. I know there are a lot of Toyota haters on this board, but I still felt like sharing. This thing sounds and looks mean as hell. Cant wait to see if it can stand up against some of offerings from Porsche and Ferrari.

The question is how will it stack up against the allmighty GT-R?

I dont understand... Lexus is Toyota. In Japan its all badged Toyota, in the US it gets a Lexus badge b/c people need to feel validated by the fancy name. But, everything says TMC on it.
Its like saying you dont like peanuts, but you like peanut butter.

The ass-end is kinda hideous. Which is too bad, cause that's the end everyone's going to be seeing ;)

toyota does not have the style and sportiness that lexus have, and its been like that for a while, toyota has not made a decent sports cars in years, while the lexus came out with the is300 and now is coming out with the is-f, i know its the same company but its sure as hell not the same cars.

If it's supposed to be a supercar, they'll probably put a DSG style tranny in it to shave time. I super fast shifting auto > manual when you're racing.
I do agree though that a car with a clutch is far more fun to drive than any automatic.

Agreed, a Cadilac and a Geo aren't the same, a Mini and a BMW aren't the same. Shared DNA yes, but more refinement, and better materials go into the better cars.
I'm just surprised it took them this long to get into the super car game.

I agree. But thats the difference with Toyota and Lexus, nothing has chaged. In Japan, the Lexus IS300 does not exist. Its called a Toyota Altezza (Turbo) over there. There is no nameplate change, thats my point. Its just Toyota across the board.
Same with Honda/Acura... There is no Acura RSX, TSX, etc in Japan. Its a Honda RSX and I think the TSX is the Accord Type R with some minor tweaks.

I didnt mean to take this way off topic, I just get a kick out of marketing. People hate Toyota, but like Lexus... That means the advertising people did their job about as well as they could have.

i completely agree, just because its part of the same family doesnt mean its all the same, i mean fuck if it was all the same the there would be ford parts all over mazdas, lincons, volvos, and land rovers, they all share the same basics but different things go into them, you cannot say that the camry has all the same performance and technology that lexus puts into their cars.
ps joe youve been on my ass in everything i say lol

It's not about the name, its about the quality. The fact that they're all the same in Japan doesn't matter at all. If they were all Toyota's here, then Ivan could hate all the low end Toyota's and like all the high end ones (Lexuses).

excatly i hate the corollas and camries and the other crappy ones, and since i have started to notice cars, when i was 10ish the only good sports car toyota has produced was the mr2 (which i love), they are kinda like the Japaneses ford, the used to make really fun to drive cars but now dont, and lexus is like the mazda or volvo that ford own, they are new and stylish and appeal more to the sports aspect of the consumer market.
