This will be where we'll post up all the details of what I am calling "BAG". Short for Big, Ass, Garage. Cause for us, it is.

I expect there to be a wet bar in this garage.

You guys have a sandbox in the backyard! You need some tonka trucks I think.

did you remember to move jana's car?

Wow that's awesome. I can't wait to see the new one start taking shape!
Sadly Jana's car was moved. ;)
Framing of the base and pouring starts tomorrow. Framing at this rate could start late next week, and the garage actually complete in 2-3 weeks tops. Let's hope for good weather. We'll plan a garage warming party soon!

I checked out the plans and it looks really deep! Plenty of room for a workbench AND a wet bar...lol Are you planning high ceilings, so you can throw a lift in there?....or you could dig a center tunnel to allow you to walk under the vehicle if the water table isn't too shallow. How sweet would THAT be?!

Hey AJ, let me know if you need any shop tools once the BAG is finnished. I got an engine hoist, tranny jack and engine stand. All with very light use on them. I would sell them to you at a good low price.
Not sure if I will need any of that. That type of work I don't really plan to do myself.
Updated photos.

Let me know how much you'd want for the engine hoist and engine stand, and some details on them. I might be interested down the road a few months.
And damn AJ, that's a lot of cement, love it!

YEa Matt let me know when you might want them I will try and get some pics soon. The engine hoist is good up to 2tons and the stand probly good for 2ton as well. I will keep them myself unless I can find a buyer. And I will work out a fair price.

That garage is larger than life itself!
B.A.G is coming to the completion. The roof is one, the last bit of rocking we are having done was done this morning, and the siding should of been started today, and maybe finished today. Then it's electrical and the garage door (which is delayed till the 27th right now).
Gotta admit didn't really think if would be as big as it is when we started, but I love every sq foot!
We are going to have 1 garage space basically for future landscaping and gardening project over the next year with the restof our storage and a punching bag for me. Then one for the Miata project and the two dailys. It's hard to imagine the space filled but looks like we'll do it fairly easily.

I demand updated pics immediatly!!!
And you can never have too much space in the garage, I'm sure you will enjoy the hell out of it.

Wow, when I saw the shots of the giant gaping cavern that is your garage, all I could think of was.............. Dan's mom.
Also, it's not big enough. You still have grass in your backyard!

Damn that's a big garage. I should come over and install surround sound in there, then you and Jay can have garage-stereo wars.
Did you get any pictures of them tearing down the old one?
Nope, they tore it down while we where at work.
I'll probably run some sort of speaker setup in the garage. may even see about getting cable in there eventually.

Are you planning on insulating and drywalling? If you haven't yet, run all the speaker/coax/Ethernet cable now while you can.
We have one of the 40 foot walls rocked and insulated already. The remaining we'll do at a later time and it will give us the ability to do what is needed.
Not sure what i'd want to use out there though.

I think coax/ethernet/speaker wiring would cover all your bases like colin said. It'd be a lot less time and money to run a little excess wiring now, rather than having to tear holes in the wall to run it at a later date.
Then again, using the surface-mount conduits out in a garage wouldn't be a big deal if you decided you wanted more access at a later date.

Lots and lots of outlets! Can never have too many power outlets. Beyond that ethernet/speaker/coax is a good plan, it doesn't cost all that much and it's nice to have it in should you want it down the road. But, like Jay said in a garage you could just run conduit if you want, thats my plan since my garage is already finished.
I'll have to have some of you guys walk though and give me some options to look at on where to put shit and see if you guys can think of things I wouldn't.

Lemme know when you wanna do it, I'd be happy to check it out.
More photos added. They put the gutters on today, and the photos now show what it looks like for 4 mazdas in the garage. B.A.G is Big. nuff said.

Dang, that's awesome. 4 Mazdas in a garage. Mmhmm.
Just as an update to BAG in general. There is a very good chance we could be installing our current home AC/Furnace in the garage for year round temp control.
I'm also trying to figure out a cost effective way to get tunes in that thing and make it sound good.
Third, I've started the base for my wood work and work bench (see photos). It's just the base of what I will work with now. But I did get the first part done, on all 4 legs, and a supporting piece that will double as my screwdriver holder. I plan on adding a second shelf for my socket set and then more support. I'll sand some key areas smooth and stain the bitch as well. Then I'll make another one after I pick up a circ saw to allow more tinkering with the size of the top. From there it's off to shelving and possibly other ideas!

Looking good AJ!
More pics with second work bench nearly done. Changed the height up on this one, so now I have two at two levels I like working at. This second one is getting a shelf about 12 inches down that will sit on the current side braces. I'll finish with some final angel supports and a backing. Then the top will get a bit of a router/sanding job on the edges and both will be done. All in all, not even $70 in material and screws for both benches that I can figure.
Next projects now that I have benches to work on will be some shelving for Jana in the laundry room, and a bench and coat hanger setup for the mud room. Those will take a bunch more time, but got to say I'm enjoying this!

Ahhh, nice. I was a bit concerned seeing no angle bracing on the first one, but glad to hear you're adding it. It'll no doubt make the benches much more sturdy.
