We all have internal standards we use to measure cars. This thread is about what would constitute your perfect car.

1) The prefect car must be a single automobile.
2) It must be a car that would be street legal.
3) The perfect car must be feasible using current automotive technology.

Engine: single turbo inline 6 with vtec

Layout: RWD for better efficiency than awd

Suspention: double wishbone front and rear suspention

Bodystyle:5 door hatchback

Wheels: 18x9 rpf1s or as an option re30s in the same size.

Transmission: 6 speed manual.

Curb weight would be kept below 3000lbs and MPG would be kept about 20city 30 hwy if that's possible with modern tech I don't know.

Hard to disagree with that, but my idea of perfection is the M5, just make it cost 30k less.

for a car that is already made a gt-r has most of what I am looking for but it's a shame they had to make it a v6 and not inline6

06-27-2008, 07:06 AM
except that there's no 6-speed manual, and the curb weight is probably double what you're looking for! lol

For the record, my perfect car wouldn't come by checking off boxes (except for maybe the requisites of RWD, forced induction and manual trans). Mostly because it would have to be more than the sum of it's parts.... there are enough cars out there that fit most of my hard criteria that would do absolutely nothing for me, so I pretty much have to just know it when I see it.

Subjective requirements are fully acceptable. I believe the perfect car to most people is a combination of objective and subjective.

BMW M3.

Yeah... I'm not picky enough to really have a "perfect car"

If I wanted a daily driver, an M3 would be on the top of my list.

For a car that's fun to drive, either a Viper or a 427 Shelby Cobra. Either blue with white racing stripes.

ZoomZoom Diva
06-27-2008, 11:28 AM
Why can't a car be fun to drive and meet the needs of a daily driver? That's the whole point of this exercise: to determine the perfect car.

Workdawg

I have no doubt the M3 would be fun to drive, but I bet I would have more fun in the viper or cobra...

and it's not rwd and it's mpg is lower than I would like so the list goes on.

1. 4 doors, an absolute MUST
2. awd system similar to the gt-r, slightly more rear wheel based (like audi R8/lambo Gallardo)
3. hatchback, similar to the Porsche Panamera style, but must be functional as a hatch.
3. nice supportive seats, proper gauges, a slick 6 speed shifter, livable stereo, sick engine and exhaust sounds.
4. wieght watchers, light materials for EVERYTHING, no unnecessary government regulated crap.
5. huge FAT superlite 17" tires, like 285's or bigger (anything bigger than 17's is fucking retarded.)
6. I'll do twin-turbo 6 cyl to keep it simple. 500-700 horses sounds about right.
7. MSP spicy orange paint sounds good too.

I think that sums it up pretty good.

jeep commander?

That's the polar opposite of the perfect car.

ZoomZoom Diva
06-30-2008, 02:35 AM
OK... here we go... this should cover most of it.

Approximately 185" in overall length
5-door body
Weight no more than 3300 pounds, less preferred
High output NA V6 engine
6 speed manual transmission geared with DEEP O/D top gear
Aggressive sports car styling
Sports car front seating and moderate cockpit dash with visual and ergonomic flow into the passenger side area, center console, and doors.
Full instrumentation
0-60 in under 6 seconds (quicker is better)
20 mpg city 30 mpg highway EPA ratings (higher is better)
Handling and braking competitive with comparably priced sports cars
Comfortable seating for 4 adults, 5 in a pinch
Rear seat and front passenger seat fold flat for cargo.
firm, yet well controlled ride, adjustable suspension
Available luxuries and amenities as comparably equipped mid-size cars (including leather, moonroof, dual power seats, full power accessories...)
Illumination of all controls, including stalks, doors and upper console.
Available stereo with good quality components. Name irrelevant.
Priced to provide value and competition to similarly equipped midsize cars.

I'm still not in love with the LED strip audi is putting below the headlights... (if the horizontal section was flat, it would be fine, but that little hump just looks kinda dumb) .... But I would still rock an R8 harder than I've ever rocked any forum member's mom.
