Looking to get a set and put some snow tires on.

Also, what offset are you guys running on the aftermarket rims?

I do know that some--but not all--16" steelies will fit over the MS3's brakes. 17's will fit for sure, but you start looking at significantly more expensive tires at that point. A few members here have used 16" steelies to my knowledge, so hopefully they can chime in with exactly which wheels they bought. If nothing else, you can probably find the info on mazda3forums.com

This doesn't answer your question, but it is an alternative:

Hancock Ice Bears (IIRC) in 18" size that fit the stockers cost like $130 a pop. Just an option if you're looking... They work really good, i own a set.

yeah, everyone knows you only need snow tires on the front axle with a FWD car :)

Alright you jokers, I fixed it. I'm high off popsicles and ice cream with strep throat. Leave me alone :(

I have these 16in"

On these:

I enjoy the lighter weight wheels, but I wish I would have just spent the extra cash at first and got something to fit on the stockers as I'll have three sets of wheels eventually....

I was thinking of just getting some 16" steelies. But will it clear?

If you order them from Tire rack, you should have no problems. several members here have done exactly that. Otherwise, if you go junkyard, test fit before you purchase.

I have steelies on my MS3. They fit....barely. About a quarter inch clearance.

+1

TireRack seems to know the correct fitment for steelies. But there are some 16" steelies out there that don't fit, so just be aware.

so i'm looking at like $500-600 for the steelies and tires from tirerack.

but it sucks because they don't have the sensor for the valvestem!

500-600 including tires right?

but it sucks because they don't have the sensor for the valvestem!

You can solve that with a piece of electrical tape..... stick it right over the idiot light on the dash ;)

Or just ignore it. That's what I do. It only flashes for the first 30 seconds then it's just a solid light. I don't even notice it anymore.

yeah it includes tires for $500.

Anyways, this wouldn't affect anything right? And once i put the stockers on the light will go away?

Yep, all the light is saying, is that the sensor in the wheel hub isn't getting a signal from the sensors in the valve stem. no big deal

16" steelies from discount tire with general altimax artic's no tpms's mounted and installed $660. just have to deal without the angry flat tire buzzer and a light on the dash unless you want to pay an extra 160 bones!

Gonna pick up a set of steelies that was use from the mazda6 for $150 :) with a year left on the tread. I should make it okay without buying new tread for next year.

As long as they clear the calipers, it's game on. Saves you from having to pay for new ones too.

I'm going to go get the rims/tires today. I'll ask him if it doesn't fit, that I can return it back to him. Although it should fit, if not I could always sell it to the RSX guys etc.

Why not just jack the car up and toss the wheel on before buying them? I'm sure he wouldn't mind you test fitting. You'd only need to test fit one of them.

dmention7
09-05-2008, 09:01 AM
make sure you test fit a front wheel tho... ;)

I brought them back going to test fit right now. LOLS I picked em up from a employee at valleyfair.. didn't want to jack it up over there.

Okay, does anyone know if 17" Mazda6 rims will clear?

dmention7
09-15-2008, 11:50 AM
I'm fairly certain they would... can't think of any reason they wouldn't.

Workdawg

I can't think of a reason they wouldn't... SilverMS3 said in another thread the 17" 6 wheels were 52mm offset, which is the same as the stock wheels on teh MS3.
