Hello,

I'm wanting to upgrade the deck on my new Mazda, but I went to Best Buy to buy one, they said they have none that fit. I went to Crutchfield, and it says "The vehicle's climate controls are built into the factory radio, so the factory radio cannot be replaced. "

Any suggestions? I can't handle using the FM transmitter on my mp3 player any more. And I don't want to get the Bose factory "upgrade".

I just can't believe that it's come to this, are the manufacturers trying to prevent us from making improvements to our vehicles?

I'm pretty sure there is a kit out there (spendy though) that allows you to put a single DIN size deck in the car to replace the factory set up. There are a few audio guys on here that should have some more solid info though.

I did see the metra kit online. Has anyone used one? I know it says I will retain my hvac capabilities, but will I continue to have the display of outside/inside temps work on the upper part of my dash? Should I try to just find the manufacturer of the Metra kit and ask them? I'd rather if I could find someone who has used one so that I'm not spending 170 bucks blindly.

From what I've heard the metra kit is a great product. And I know it allows you to program the display to say what you want (instead of 'Hello'), so I would imagine it won't affect the temps.

For 6 specific info. on the metra, search mazda6club.com

Actualy, I've seen one of these in person at the Circut City in MG. The intall guys liked it, except for the fact that the hazard button was pretty much owrthless on the unit they had. Other than that, it's seemingly the only way to do a proper install for a single din setup without going custom.

We are going to be having a contest or something along those lines for the AudioLink setup. A little nicer way to use mp3 from your stock HU.

I know the Mazda3's stock radio unit is able to be modded to allow an Aux-In.
Is the 6 stock unit the same as the 3?
Do you have satellite radio already hooked into the stock unit?

you can use a adapter made by peripheral electronics part # MAZASX APPROX COST $169.99 will let you use an aux input with the bose but yo will lose the cd changer or factory xm etc... I did call peripheral for you to check to make sure that it will work with the bose and the speed edition.. also this part # will work with the 5 series mazdas and the 3 series from 2004-2006

Also will provide up to 2 aux inputs and works of the factory 16pin cd changer port on the back of the radio

It has no satellite, nor bose.

Thanks everyone for the ideas!!!
