I have the homelink mirror installed, does anyone know if it works with key fob entry systems? My key fob doesn't so much... have a button I pushed when the door opens, but needs to be 'swiped.' Is there a way to recreate this using Homelink?

Nope.

The key fobs are likely RFID, where the homelink mirror or a standard garage door opener is not.

Wait, you want to push the homelink button on your car, from your parking spot, and then get out and run to the door before it closes?

Hmmm....

I know its LAAAZY but I don't want to open my window and swipe at the scanner (if its raining or snowing, will get interior wet :( ) Just trying to think outside the box, though I can see why apartment complexes would not want you to do this.

What he said. Perhaps you could embed the RFID chip from your fob in your side mirror and then just drive reallllly close to the sensor pad....

In case it wasn't clear from his reply, this is one of those openers that has a RFID sensor pad next to the driveway, so you pull up in front of the door, roll down your window, wave the fob in front of the pad, and then drive in.
