I'm thinking we should have a good old fashioned mazda meet featuring grilling, beer in public, and old fashioned hangin out. I would bring my trusty gas weber grill and we would rock out with hamburgers and bratwurst.

Yeah, the majority of the time, I would agree. But, when I have weekends off, I tend to get a lil wild....woohoo!

Also if you go to the store and buy this stuff called Vitamin Water in the purple bottle called revive I hear its a miracle for hangovers!

Amen to Vitamin Water!
I vote Sunday, but Saturday might be better since that'll give everyone Sunday to recuperate. Hehehe~

Screw it. Hijack the picnic tables from the asians, close the pool off to only us, and lets have at it!

We could always hit one of the MANY parks around the cities. Lake calhoun is always a blast, otherwise there are plenty others with better parking and far less people...

Como park always seems to be a winner, unless it's raining and there's a wedding reception going on.

I think we came to the decision of Coon Rapids Dam... its a large regional park with a ton of different shelters and areas for parking, recreation, grilling, and general tom foolery.
mndsm
07-26-2007, 09:27 AM
General tomfoolery? That's about right. Do they have an easy escape route in case something *accidentally* gets set on fire?
dmention7
07-26-2007, 09:30 AM
Yep, they're called "mazdaspeed ve-hick-uhls"

That's where flocking strategies come in. There's like 10 of us and 1 of him. Keep him confused enough that he can't pick out just one target.
mndsm
07-26-2007, 09:44 AM
And if there's enough black cars there, he can't determine who is who, and therefore can't tag any of us! Sweet.
mazdamn02
07-26-2007, 11:33 AM
At least I don't have to worry about my blazing red being picked out...
Can anyone post up directions to Coon rapidsand I'll put it in the first post? Lets start at noon?
mazdamn02
07-26-2007, 11:51 AM
Thanks Jay, I cheated when I found the Anoka parks guide and posted their directions, lol.
So I see that we can reserve a pavilion, but it would be $40. Should we just show up and claim one? I'm not familiar with this park...
dmention7
07-26-2007, 11:53 AM
Shit, you asked for Como, but we're going to the Coon Rapids dam.... oops.

07-26-2007, 11:55 AM
Shit, you asked for Como, but we're going to the Coon Rapids dam.... oops.
My bad dude, they sound so alike!
So what's up with this:
All motorized vehicles are required to purchase a vehicle entry permit to the regional parks. Annual permits are available for $25, good for one year from date of purchase. Daily permits are available for $5 per day. The annual permit is honored at all Anoka County Regional Parks as well as regional parks in Washington and Carver counties.
dmention7
07-26-2007, 11:57 AM
Probably going to cost us $5/car to get in. That's pretty common for parks around here.
mazdamn02
07-26-2007, 12:00 PM
Good thing I caught that, I'm the worst at carrying cash.
dmention7
07-26-2007, 12:06 PM

There is definitely something unethical with charging people just to go in and use a public park when taxes are already so myriad and excessively high. However, I will let government screw me out of more money if I'm in town.
What's on the "to bring" list as far as sides/desserts/buns/meats... I'm assuming drinks are each on their own.
mazdamn02
07-27-2007, 05:38 PM
I totally forgot about the "to bring" list, good call. Its always a mess to manage- we've done quite a few of these sort of meets on the mazda3forums and I don't think we ever came up with a best way to do it.
ZoomZoom Diva
07-27-2007, 05:49 PM
Well, the main problem I have seen is having everyone bringing the same thing or type of thing. When everyone brings chips or brings sweets, it just doesn't work right. BYOB, but either do a collection for meat or have everyone bring their own too... plus a dish to pass (nothing too huge or we'll be able to feed the whole county!) Have people sign up dishes, and just see if we get too overloaded on something.
If I'm in town that weekend (there's some stuff going on where I don't know my schedule yet), I'd do a side of some sort like beans or a pasta salad or something... I could bake a cake too...

My role is grill master. That's what I know. I also have the super grill in my super rubbermaid container to bring.
JustROLLIN
07-30-2007, 10:39 AM
Yeah, so whats the story? We are actually doing this right? Are we doing an everyone bring your own food to grill or a mass of food and pay for it?
dmention7
07-30-2007, 10:45 AM
Probably a little of both. Someone brings a pack of brats, someone brings some burgers, someone brings a case of soda...
mndsm
07-30-2007, 10:51 AM
And then we always end up going to the store and getting more crap anyhow .It works well that way IMO.

The problem with organizing these things, is that it ends up just as much fun if we put 5 minutes into planning, as if we spend weeks and weeks laying things out.
Big Nate

Agreed everyone just show up at the dam around 1 and we will have fun.

07-30-2007, 11:42 AM
I'm going to be on call for work that weekend, but I'm planning to make it anyway. Cub is just down the road a mile or two so if we end up needing to make a run and get something no big deal. So is this going on at noon or 1?

I will try to be there. I have to be at the saints game later that day to kick off a bachlor party! depending on when the tailgating starts there i will make a showing. Coon Rapids is a long way for me for just an hour or 2. I should have ready this earlier and recomended that park in B'ville we went to last fall. (the one flashing in my sig below) The one with the kids on the scooters or whatever they were. There is never anyone at that place. Oh well, maybe next month. Then we can head to my place and rock out the guitar hero or something.

I have a feeling we're just going to start rolling in between 11-12 and.... just kinda go with the flow. Organization and planning FTL!
I might try to sneak up there for a couple hours with the XTM in tow. I might see of that buddy of mine with the 8th scale brushless wants to ride along...when I talked to him on Tuesday, he was in the process of trading in their Tribute for a new 6, so maybe he'll start coming to some meets as well.
mndsm
08-10-2007, 09:58 AM
Kickin. IF there is RC madness afoot, I may just show up after all. Hadn't planned on it originally.
Just chatted with Jake, the guy with the 8th scale...sounds like they'll be picking up the new Mazda6 tonight, and it sounds like he's game for some wild and crazy r/c action tomorrow! I'm guessing he'll bring the Mamba powered T4 along as well...I'll see if he can bring a 3-cell lipo along for some insane speed runs...........:66:
mndsm
08-10-2007, 10:29 AM
He's got a Mamba T4? Oooohhhh.... he's got exactly what I want....
Yup...I think he's got the 5700 motor, but it's still pretty damn fast!
mndsm
08-10-2007, 11:15 AM
I'm looking forward to seeing that.
Not too put a jinx on the event, but it looks like there's a decent chance of rain tomorrow...is there covered shelter at the park?
mndsm
08-10-2007, 12:04 PM
Possibly.
JustROLLIN
08-10-2007, 12:04 PM
In the spirit of the RC madness, since I dont have one, I will be bringing my Zoom Copter...LOL.
mazdamn02
08-10-2007, 12:12 PM
Joe - are you going to put the copter on the roof of the pavilion?
JustROLLIN
08-10-2007, 12:52 PM
No, I will let you do that....
mndsm
08-10-2007, 01:13 PM
Joe, you should buy an RC truck and join the madness. Come on, everyone is doing it.
