I finally got my tank set up to my liking. Figured I'd share and see if any fellow mners had tanks set up too.
Tank is filled w/ 6 Lake Malawi African Chiclids.
Two Auratus, a Kennyi, and I think 3 Labs...

Nice setup man, what size tank is that? I had a 55gal a few years ago w/ some Chiclids, awesome fish for a freshwater setup. I'd like to get another one at some point.

I have a 23gal tank. I will take a pic later. I have actually been having a lot of issues with my fish lately. I have mainly African Cichlids in the tank, but they have been eating each other and fighting. The guy from WorldOfish (awesome store) said my tank is too small for those fish.
So, now I need to get rid of the fish and move over to something less aggressive. Anyone have any ideas what would be good? I am looking for something thats active but not as territorial as the Cichlids.
And does anyone want my 2 Cichlids? I have one small albino and one med purple one. The two that are left, other are dead from stress or eaten, get along well.

I went to aquatropics last night in Crystal. It was a really nice store.
From what I've read my 30 gallon is consider "small" for chiclids, but they are happy as can be in it.
I'd be interested in taking the 2 off your hands, do you happen to know what kind of chiclids are? I don't want to mix my Africans w/ South American.

I can go tomorrow afternoon if you are free.
Sure I will take your fish if need to get rid of them.

Aquatropics had some really cool fish. They had two African Lung fish, some knifefish, and a bunch of other crazy shit I've never seen before.

You need to watch out there are a lot of unethical things going on with fish dealers. Like died fish they take albino tetra and die them red and blue and call them strawberry and blueberry tetra. There is no such thing as a strawberry tetra.

Both of the Cichlids are African... one is "small" size albino and the other is a "medium" size purple one. But, I am SURE they are both african.
Whoever wants them, can have them. I am gonna be something better suited for my tank.

Schweet!
Do you have pictures of them?
I'd want to id them before I throw them in my tank.
What are your current water readings? (ammonia, nitrate, nitrites, etc.)
Need to make sure they will actually live in my tank and not just sentencing them to death...

I dunno...lol... Maybe Nate can answer that. Its a very small puffer that has a yellowish tint to it.

Dwarf puffers are the only freshwater puffers I know of.....
I'd be concerned placing them in a tank w/ anything other than their own species.
I know they don't look the part, but they are some badass little guys and have destroyed anything I placed in a tank w/ them.
You did buy them from a reputable LFS, so maybe they are a more passive breed.

Hmmm....that does worry me. But, the level of expertise they displayed to me, I think I should be ok. Those people at WoF really knew their business. The guy I dealt with last night had 11 tanks and 4 ponds of his own.
Thanks for the heads up though, I will definitely keep my eyes peeled for any issues.

I think everything will be fine with the dwarf puffer. He is so small and the betta will keep him in line. also all the fish you got will hold there own when it comes to a fight.

i'll post some shots of my stepmom's 29 gal she has set up. 3 mollies, a Ting, Clownfish, something that looks like a pirahna, a Bala shark, the angel seems to have disappeared, and an eel.
and it looks like the mollie had a baby..last time she had about 7 and 2 survived. hopefully this little frye will make it :)

I still have my tank, its a 22gal with a basic setup... some live plants and rocks and what not. But, the fish I have are the really cheap ones.. A world of fish gave me these since the expensive ones I bought all died. I really want to go back get some nicer fish again, but I am scared they will die or eat each other again.

The fish that looks like a piranha is a red belly pacu. Very similar only no teeth. That thing will get way too big for that tank. So be careful what if anything else is put in with it. As for Mollies I didn't see any in the pics you posted. The ones that are about the size of quarters are called tetra and they look like albino or the dreaded dyed strawberry/blueberry tetra.
I have three tanks. One has a mix of fish. The 60 gallon tank has 2 Bolivian rams, 2 angelfish, 5 black tetra, one minnow thing that I got for free when I swam into the bag at the fish store, a large placostomus and 2 gold severems. I have a 30 gallon with two flag cichlids and last a 20 gallon with one mixed African cichlid. I had four mixed in the 30 gallon but the damn thing didn’t stop eating each other and then the last one left died.

in the first pic i posted there is one mollie by the white bottle and another by the heating wand.
I'm thinking the Pacu got the angelfish that was in there

Soon it will be getting every else that is in there too.....
I'd consider giving him to a local fish store and starting fresh with a species that is compatible with each other.
Your tank will be much more active and enjoyable....

Pacu are returned to the fish store all the time. They will our grow any home tank set -up in a matter of 6 months-2 years. I have seen one get to be the size of a basketball. Like andy said bring it to a fish store and most likly they will trade for something better suited for your tank.

Looks real clean man, only thing I'd do is get a solid blue or black background for it, would dress it up nicely IMO. Oh if there is room behind the rocks you could hide the heaters too, can't really tell from the pic if there is or not.

I might try blue, had a black one and I didn't really like it much.

AGA 125 Gallon 'Tall' tank, dimensions are 60"L x 18"W x 26"T, also got a CS100 Overflow with the tank.
Going to start construction of the stand shortly!

Hmm Okay so, I've read a lot and learned a little, decided not to go with the setup that was posted above for various reasons. I've ordered a custom Oceanic 156g Tank (60" x 24" x 24") that should be here in 3-4 weeks. I'm looking at table saws now and will probably pick one up once the tank is delivered so I can get cracking on a stand for it. Will post some pics once the tank shows up.
I also picked up a Nova Extreme 8 Bulb T5 Light Fixture w/ upgraded bulbs (I don't have the list in front of me but will post it later) It's a 48" Long fixture that should work fairly well for my tank, I may eventually upgrade the lighting to Metal Halides later but right now I'm not 100% sure what I'm going to keep so unless I want something that requires super high intensity lighting I won't bother. I plan to mount it on slides in the canopy above the tank so it can easily be slid out to replace bulbs or access the tank below.
