Anybody know of a good place in the northern suburb area to get your car appraised?

Appraised? I guess I have always looked at KBB.com or edmunds.com for estimated value.... Are you thinking the mods you have done are worth addtional value or what?

Probably for modified ins. purposes. I know a lot of smaller ins. companies will insure a modified/hot rod/show car, but you have to get it appraised, same as say, insuring your wife's wedding ring. They do it on approx. value IIRC. (Sorry, I was in work typing mode right there. I use abbreviations for EVERYTHING.)

usually mods don't add though if anything subtract
Actually they do add value. Usually they appraise it to a % of the purchase price or they have some sort of market value. When you have lots of money invested it is worth getting done.

Agreed. If you are talking about an average car with average or basic mods, it typically will decrease the value. But, if you are talking about a rare or highly modified car, it can definitely increase the value.

Na, not doing because of the mods, doing it because kbb vastly under values rx7's and now that i've got the collector plates for her, the insurance wants an exact value by a certified appraiser, even though the only company they referred me to no longer does it. Otherwise if something happened to the car now i'd get like $2k tops...

I need to get off my butt and do this myself soon, as Rex will likely be getting fitted for collector's plates this coming Spring (built February 1988).
Unfortunately, I don't know of any places either.
