Oils up to $86 / barrel, they're guessing gas will be $4/ gallon by spring...
What will you do?

Keep driving my 30mpg 3. On regular gas.
If regular goes up to $4/gallon, I'd hate to see what premium will cost.

I don't understand how those can get over 40 mpg with their lack of aerodynamics.

Guys do you remember when gas was under a dollar? I do that was less then ten years ago. We will not change how we drive we will just turn around and take it in the gas tank if you know what I mean. Really we can sit here and say wow that is a lot of money for gas but what can we really do to change it? Oil is the single largest money producing product in the world. I would love to think I could change or even get noticed by that industry but I wouldn’t be so arrogant. So like you guys I am going to sit on this wed site and bitch about “wow that a lot just for gas’”. With the same thought in the back of my head “well do I really need to go do that” and I will say well gas is never going to get cheaper.
Rant over.
Nate.

Exactly. That's why I just said I'll keep spoolin it up! Not much I can do about it. No use complaining........

Nate, that's why I drive a fuel-efficient 4-cylinder car. Gas is only gonna go up in price, like you said. I think sporty but economical sedans and hatches will soon become much more popular than they are now, and minivans will make a comeback.

Not everyone can keep on spoolin or driving. Not everyone makes enough money to spend hundreds of dollars on gas per month. I already spend close to $300-400 a month on gas at $3 per gallon

Well it is what has always happened so it is not a suprise.

It can't really be "what has always happened" if gas was under $1/gal less than a decade ago. Markets fluctuate and prices follow them.
However, in the long run, the trend can only be for gas prices to rise.... but that doesn't mean that we're going to necessarily see $10/gallon before we see $2/gallon again.
This isn't the first time gas has jumped dramatically. In the 70s gas jumped from about $.25 to about $.75 per gallon (about tripled). It was during a time when conflict and trouble was happening around the globe during the early years of the cold war. That's when the "Muscle Car Era" ended and automakers started making more gas efficient vehicles and import sales increased.
And now within the last 6 or so years gas has jumped from $.99 to about $3.00 a gallon (about tripled). We were/are in the middle of a war/conflict that is affecting the world. Now automakers are trying to create more gas-efficient vehicles like hybrids and people will probably think about giving up their SUVs. Hmmm...Sound familiar.
Unfortunately there was/is nothing we can change. Except make our own personal choices about what vehicle we buy, how often we drive it, and how close we live to where we work.

So, now gas has hit $4/gallon. Have you stopped spooling the turbo on your car? I know I haven't. It's not a matter of making too much money, it's just the price you pay for driving this kind of car.

Poor Andrew....
Nothing has really changed in our driving habbits. We don't head home to see Family as much, but I think that is more due to the busy life of house work, school, and other events in the cities.
If we where to tighten up, we would just car pool during the week, but even then I'm only saving 15 miles a day on my car or Jana's car. "If" I drive nice, I can get 25+ mpg, so it's not a big deal to me. Then again, I'm generally 4th gear dropping into the Bass Lake Rd off ramp and seeing how fast I can hit the east bound ramp corner. I think 55mph is about the fastest I've taken that so far. :D

I've seen a lotus elise do the same thing..... Needless to say, I lost sight of him after he took that turn.

Trying to keep up with an Elise on a turn is just depressing.
