Hi Everyone:
I'm new to the forum and the site. Was wondering if anyone would be interested in a cruise some Sunday in November. Just got my Mazda3 a few weeks ago and just found out about the forum. Been on a few cruises with the Subaru and Mini groups in the area as a copilet with a friend. Now I've got the urge to get out and have some fun in my Mazda. Anyone interested? If so anyone want to help plan the trip, as I've only been in Minnesota now for 8 months and don't know the area that well yet.
Here is video from the Subaru cruise this past weekend. It's of one wiping out.

We passed another group and a guy in a EVO was filming and caught the wipe out.
Cheers!

Definitely! I've been wanting to organize some kind of "spirited driving" event myself, but I have no idea where the good roads are (and I'm lazy like that... lol). But if you have some good ideas, post them up and get this thing started :D
btw, the local mini club is having a meet this saturday apparently... are you going to be at that one?

It's my friends wife who drives the Mini. If he goes I may tag along with him. Have you been to any of the other Mini Club meets. I hear from my friend that club is pretty active.
Lets see what other type of interest there is in a spirited driving event and we'll go from there. Anyone know of any good roads and want to help plan this?

I have not been to any of their meets personally, but a fellow member (mndsm) has a girlfriend with a Mini, and I've been interested in meeting a few of these guys. Apparently this saturday is a MINI costume party, and the terms for me being invited are that I have to dress up the MSP as a mini

Way to funny! You have to take pics and post. I have to admit, the Mini is a fun ride.

Oh, there will be pics aplenty. And yes, those Minis are a blast. MAZDAMINI (I forgot, she's a member here) has a cooper S... gotta love that S/C whine

Just heard back from my friend and he and his wife was not planning on attending Saturday. :(

Sad. Well, in any event, it'd be cool to meet you sometime... yes we do have a Cooper S. If you've been to any of the Mini events and remember a blue/blue Cooper S with British flag mirror covers, that's the ride. It's going as Superman for Halloween. And YES, there will be many pics, and hopefully video!

Totally agree. My friend Tim's wife drivers the Silver Mini Cooper S. She is part of the group from Robinsdale. There is another girl who drives a Yellow Mini Cooper and another guy who drivers a Red Mini Cooper S. They call themselves the Robinsdale Pirates or something like that. I know they went on the overnight trip up north a few weeks back.

wow, they have a group just from Robbinsdale? Cuz I'm in the NW corner of minneapolis, just a couple blocks from robbinsdale.

Yep there are at least 3 of them. I actually don't live to far from you then. I live in NW right across the Hennepin bridge pretty much across the street from Nyes and The Times. You ever hang out around that area?

I've been to Nye's once or twice, but I'm actually not down that way too often

You been on any of the other Mazda cruises in the past? If so did many people show up and where you guys go?

The only big cruise we've had (this site was only born this spring) was to a camping trip in Duluth. Lordy, that was kind of nutso tho... but in a good way!

Nice....
Are most people here also members of the mazda247 forum as well?
Are there any pics out there from the camping trip?

No date yet... the thread was just posted this morning! lol
And a lot of the people on the boards with MSPs are on mazdas247. The mazda 3 crew is pretty much exclusively from mazda3forums, and a lot of the 6 people are from mazda6club.com

Here are a couple of dates I think would be good. All who is interested please comment and lets find a date that works best for everyone:
November 3rd
November 10th
November 17th/18th
Vikings vs Packers game is on the 11th, so my guess is there would be a good portion of the group watching that game. The 4th is out for me, as I will be copilot w/ my friend on the Subie run that weekend.
Once we get a date picked, we need to find someone to help plan the route.

Where is the subie run going down? I'm clueless as to good routes as well.
The Mitsu group did a run to New Ulm. Might be worth look at. There is a scenic route down there and a brewery and winery to possibly tour. It's not a bad solid 1 day trip.

I like the idea of the brewery and winery to possibly tour. TCSpeed6, can you get more info for us on this route. A coworker recommended doing a ridge along CR6, he says lots of bikers and car clubs go that route along the river.
I think it's following 169 down to the Mankato area, I didn't pay much attention to the names and how far off it is.

Here is what I propose for this:
Date: November 11th - I no I no this is the Vikings vs GreenBay game, but I had to pick a date and I don't want to get much further into November when the weather could start to get crappy!
Going Where: Possible Places: A. Trip from this list - http://www.trails.com/toptrails.asp?area=11600
B. Minneapolis to New Ulm to Lac Qui Parle back to Minneapolis
C. Minnesota River Run: Chaska to Mankato along the lower Minnesota River Valley
D. Propose a trip!
Leave Time: 9:00 AM
Meet Where: TBD

South/Southwest of the cities is a nice area for a cruise, the Mankato and Redwing areas have some nice roads. I'll probably be up for going once we decide on something.

I will go assuming people actually show up this time.
I'm in if it's a Saturday. And if everyone ends up going 110+ most of the trip I'm turning around. lol
I just can't give up a football day till Jan. ;)

Will you stay if we bring some hard candies for you to suck on, and stop for dinner at 4pm?

Deal we can do it on Saturday 10th then. Looks like this is starting to come together. Who wants to help plan the route with me now?
I can't make it. But I am a Newb who has never been to any events.

As long as I can still take my Viagra at 5pm I'm set.
Wow, just flat out admitting you have E.D.
I am impressed.
So what happens when it lasts longer than 4 hours?

Ping!
So, saturday the 10th is 6 days away. Does anyone have any ideas about the route(s)? I'd help out there, but I know nothing about decent routes.
I'm tossing the winter wheels and tires back on the 6 on saturday and finishing final clean up at the townhome so it's ready to rent out. Sucks, but if it's this weekend I gotta bail.
