So, are you looking to replace the original audio equipment with aftermarket stuff, or just with new OEM stuff?
Also, we've got at least a couple people on here who have a knack for stereo installs, and who would be willing to help out with the labor for the price of a few beers.

For better audio and stock look - my suggestion is something like a JL Cleansweep or Rockford 3sixty, they're sound processors so you put the audio of your tape deck or whatevers original in to it through its speaker outputs and it can funk around with the sound and then it gives you RCA outputs so you can do aftermarket nice amp and speakers. The 3sixty's also kind enough to give you an rca in put so you could have your iPod wired directly to it...
Google these things if you're interested, I'm not sure what kind of background you have with car stereos...

Josh, couldn't you also control your 3sixty with a bluetooth phone or something too? I thought that was pretty badass! :D

Bluetooth palm pilots and pocket pcs will work. Bluetooth palm can be had as low as $100 now a days.

Dude, make that thing totally stealth. Keep the stock HU in place, but then hide some aftermarket goodies.
I'm thinking carputer project!

I also vote for the carputer or stealth aftermarket HU idea. Would let you add the ability to play CDs and MP3's too.
If you wanted to control it with the stock HU buttons / knobs that'd take some doing but it could be done.

I like JL stuff myself, but then i'm biased, cause JL was what I ran on my first big install. Josh liked his 360 fine, but damn the spaghetti monster that it made out of his dash was scary.

Spaghetti monsters only scare christians. Pastafarians are just fine with them.
