volvo c30

i test drove one today(R design), it is a awesome daily driver
the exterior has amazing curves, muscular looking, and it just doesnt look like anything else
interior is roomy, amazing seats(r design), huge backseats, great visibility to the rear, not much cargo space in the back unless you lay down the seats, amazing sound from stock radio, steering wheel was sporty and i just did not want to let go of it
performance great car, handling was alright, and torque was good.

this is a great car, it is sporty, fun, has enough torque to get on the highway and fly by traffic, you can feel the quality, time, and effort they took into designing this car, and it just looks amazing
but..... it is not a sports car, the handling was too loose, but not too bad of body roll, speed wise, i wouldnt brag about it but still gives enough power to put a smile on your face.

i say if you want to go for power and sports like feel stick with the ms3, there is nothing like it performance wise to match it, it is unbeatable, but if your looking for a daily driver that you will love to drive with decent mpg great looks, amazing looks, and good performance for a daily driver the c30 is your best 2nd option for a daily driver hatch

Nice write up. I would imagine with a few aftermarket suspension upgrades (although the availability of parts for a Volvo is probably very limited) would help tighten things up to the point that it's at the least a neutral, rather than a negative. I absolutely LOVE the look of this car. The only downside for me is that it's only a 2 door. With kids, the 4 door is a must have.

yeah thats what i was thinking, volvo is shooting for the younger crowd with it, so i bet that in a couple of years this car is gonna have alot of aftermarket upgrades that would help this car go from good to amazing

it is a 2 door, but the great thing about it is that the back is HUGE and it has the longer doors for a little bit more easy access to the back, id say if you have less than 2 kids this car would be fabulous bc of all the leg room it has in the back and even the space between the seats to separate the 2 passengers in the back given them enough room to still play around and also room not to mess with each other.

The space in the back for the kids isn't the issue, the tough part is trying to contort yourself while holding the kid to try to get them into the carseat. Even in my 3 it's a low ceiling in back when trying to load my daughter in there. My old Subaru Impreza was a 2 door ('99 RS) and getting my son in and out when he was little was a major PITA until he was big enough to climb in on his own. By the time my 3 is feeling a little old though, the kids will be big enough to get in and out of the backseat on their own, so this would be a lot more feasible.

Shame on me for bringing practicality into a sporty car conversation, but when it's a DD all things have to be considered.

There is talk of a 4-door model. I totally agree that there needs to me more consideration of the 24/7/365 aspects of a car, even sports cars.

Lastly, was the price tag? My experience with the C30 is the car is very expensive.

i could have walked out with the plainest one for $18k, and a fully loaded for $26k ish, i think it would fit a person like me great as a dd, i guess that its more for a single or married couple

Ivan, were they used or that greatly discounted? An R model starts at $26,445 MSRP and the cheapest new C30 is $23,695. A loaded model can easily top $32,000.

discounted, the red one i saw was 23k ish, but they would have given me a $2k discount znd plus my ford plan z(i think its what it is called) another $2k of the price, well the r model already with alot of things incorporated in it, it had a sunroof, climate package and something else, which imo is loaded with all the standard features in the r plus a few extra things, the sticker price was $29k and minus $3k with the ford plan i got

When I test drove one a few years back it had a semi sloppy gear box. It slightly reminded me of my friends 2003 civic ex, easy to use and drive for every day use, but sloppy and hard to predict and wot
