I need to remove my rear "M"

So I need to remove the "M" on my hatch so I can paint it black. I know that the mazdaspeed logo is just glue and I need a heat gun, but i've heard tell that the M in the center has some clips or something on it. WTF do I do to get that off?

Mine had a couple of small pieces of adhesive around the edges, and then there are two posts that fit into body holes. Once you loosen the adhesive, pull the badge straight away from the body carefully. It'll take a bit of work, but the posts just pop right out of the holes.

Have you ripped off the side moldings yet????

I haven't decided on the moldings yet. I just did my front badge on Saturday, so it's black now. I'm going to re-do it since I think it looks like shit, but no one else can really tell. I just sanded it some and hit it with some primer and some Krylon black. Let it sit a day, and then ran it through the auto wash @ Holiday to see how I did. Looks like it held, so I'll do that for the back one. The Mazdaspeed logo is going to get a bleach bath, but that's because it's simply be too hard to sand something that intricate to get primer on it.

Oh and i'm an idiot and bought white primer for a black paint job.

EDIT: And i'll maybe clear them all and bake them in the oven for that really nice finish. I'll do it when Taya isn't going to be home though. She's going to be mad enough at me for ruining a cookie sheet in the process, don't need her coming home to the place smelling like paint.

Yeah, I'm working on doing my front logo right this time, since I test fit the aftermarket grille I have, and I decided I'm going to sell it and stick with the stocker. I need to get a bottle of peroxide to finish stripping the metal plating, but I should be golden pretty soon.

Then I just need to pick up some nice powdercoated grille mesh to do my lower grille, then my front end will be complete. Well except for that freakin lip that I can never afford to paint :(

Shit, I haven't even thought about that for awhile. I've been holding off on buying the last few bits I need... what with houses apparently costing a lot of money.

I might as well let the cat out of the bag and reveal that I'm working on heated/cooled cup holders. Since, it's probably going to suck anyways, it's not worth making a bit deal out of it anymore.

Cool. Why not just crib them out of a wrecked something and jam them in there? Lots of luxo-barges have them, you can probably source everything on eBay.

That's not a bad idea--I honestly hadn't thought about retrofitting them from another car. It'd probably be a wash compared to fabbing my own, since the parts (thermoelectric couplings, copper surrounds, heatsinks) will probably run around $50 anyways.

Yeah, and all it is is 12 volt and the parts to do it. I can't imagine that it'd be hard at all, plus you run less risk of setting your car on fire that way.

Ineed. Maybe i'll get ambitious and work on that some more tonight.

Maybe i'll just watch wrestling.

I have some parts you can have. I had this little thermoelectric cooler/warmer at work, but the power supply died and I can't find another one for it. The cooler/warmer runs off of 12V, so it would just take some wiring to get it rockin. Gimme a call or shoot me an e-mail if you want it.

I might very well be interested. I've already got a little TEC, but it might be nice to have some more parts to work with. No rush or anything--I'll hit you up at the next meet or something

How would you guys go about filling in the holes. I took mine off then realized the holes are ugly and stuck the HK badge on there :p

I used small plastic hole plugs from the hardware store, that I painted with some touch-up paint. You can see the plugs pretty easily, but it looks pretty decent.

I really didn't like the big "M", so I think the hole plugs look fine. They're pretty unnoticable from more than a few yards away.

I'm thinking about scoring another "M" to paint black and see if that looks better
