TRANSMISSION RANGE SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION CAUTION

APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINS:
2004-2008 Mazda3
2006-2008 Mazda5
2003-2008 Mazda6

DESCRIPTION

When removing or installing the transaxle range switch (TR switch), always be sure to hold the manual shaft lever with an adjustable wrench. Failure to use an adjustable wrench may cause TR switch breakage.

CAUTION: DO NOT USE AIR TOOLS TO REMOVE OR INSTALL THE TR SWITCH. USING AIR TOOLS MAY CAUSE TR SWITCH BREAKAGE.

NOTE: ^ If corrosion is present, apply penetrating oil to the shaft and nut threads before loosening.

^ When loosening, if there is binding because of corrosion on the threads, work the nut back and forth until it comes off.

^ Tightening Torque: 31.4 Nm (3.2 - 4.7 kgf-m, 23.2 - 33.9 ft. lbf.)


WARRANTY INFORMATION

Warranty claims clearly caused by inadequate repair practices will be charged back to the dealer.
