Axle popping out...

This question pertains to my 1992 Festiva (which is the same as the Mazda 121). I just finished putting in an engine from a Protege, but I'm still using the stock transmission which is still bolted up to the cross member using factory mount locations. I don't understand why my axle keeps popping out if the transmission is right where it should be? Any takers?

^^ That was my question as well. I would look up what the differences in axle length may be. The splines may be correct, but the actual length of the axle may be different.

I'm using the stock axles.

BUT I'm also using the stock transmission, which is in the same exact location it would have been with the original engine in it. So there shouldn't be any difference in lengths.

Aspire brakes you mean? Nope, none of that. All stock. I pulled it axle out today. The splines were straight till the cut for the retainer clip, the the splines were off about one "spline" from the others. This means the Festiva twisted the axle. Hmmm... something is odd here.

Hmm, I was under the impression that pretty much the entire front and rear suspensions could be swapped for the aspire parts in order to get bigger brakes and 13" wheels. Is it just that hubs that get swapped on the front end?

Just hubs, calipers, rotors.

Use Festy lower control arms, 323 tie rod ends.
