DIY electric car?

Cute article. Did you know that there is a MN electric car club. One guy has a Vette, another has a Geo. No fancy (expensive as #$%^) lithium batteries for them though. They make due with old school car batteries. Like 12 of them!

I saw (what I think is) the same electric vette at the state fair last summer. Looked pretty wicked, and I think the whole thing cost him barely $10k, including the car!

The Geo is probly faster! Although in reality its probly not, imagine how many batteries you could fit into an old school vet engine bay. Those things were HUGE!

Do any of these MN EV guys have a website showing details on how they setup their cars? I wouldn't even know where to start with something like this...like where would you buy the electric motors and how do you figure out how large/many you need to be able to setup a car for commuting back and forth to work only or something like that?
