Do-it-yourselfers refuse to wait for electric cars

The matter is he spent several thousand dollars, plus who knows how much labor to build this truck (a 1995 S-10 could not have cost much). Also, only having a 40 mile range is extremely limiting for the practicality of the car (I would run out of range going to Porky's) and that's without climate control. It's an extremely niche purpose vehicle for people who have another car for longer trips.

Buying up something cheap and altering it is one matter. Paying a premium of thousands of dollars for such a limited purpose vehicle is another.

It exactly my issue with the Smart. It does too little to be a viable replacement for a car for most people and buying it as an additional car is not cost effective.
