Goodbye 3, Hello MSP!

I guess since I never really gave a formal introduction, this is as good of a place as any. My name is Jay, and in the course of a couple spur-of-the-moment hours this afternoon, I prepared to bid farewell to my 2005 Mazda3 5-door, and say hello to the beautiful blue MSP that had just rolled into Walser the day before. Here's a blurry cellphone pic, courtesy of Colin (DrWebster)

Yep, it all came about when Tom (mndsm) mentioned that Walser had just received the MSP, and he wanted to show us the badass mazdaspeed shiftknob it came with. One thing led to another, and before I knew it we were out on a test drive, and I was running numbers with the finance manager. Basically, this car has a lot of the things I would've ended up doing to my 3 anyways, and it's costing me a fair amount less.

This will be my first turbo car, and I'm looking forward to learning the joys of boost without completely destroying the car's warranty. I'll be sad to see the 3 go, but I've always thought the MSP was a damn sexy car. I actually sat in one, on the first day I went shopping for my 3...

I'm not sure. The salespeople didn't know, and it sounded nice enough to me! :)

I am anxious to meet up with a few of you guys and get caught up on the aftermarket. I'm pretty well versed in the 3's aftermarket, but this is new territory for me, especially as my first FI car.

the aftermarket was pretty good about a year ago but there's still plenty of vendors and used parts out there to get your hands on. check here for more details msprotege.com

Thanks for the link--I'll have to start poking around there for info. I was amused to find that the site apparently censors "mazda3forums.com" in people's posts.... lol

Well, stage 1 of de-modding my 3 is done. F2 intake is out, and the stock intake is back in, sans the resonator. I'll give them the resonator in case they want to stick it back in, but I don't have the room to put that sonuvabitch back in. After lunch, I'm replacing the mazdaspeed shifter and swapping out as many of the LEDs for stock bulbs as I can.

Gonna have a bunch of spiffy parts for you local 3 guys. Give me a holler if you want to be hooked up!
