How much boost are you pushing?

Speak up MZR 2.3 DISI turbo peoples! How much PSI are you pushing?
I just got my boost gauge in thanks for jeff, jay and kind of tom but mostly jeff and jay. I find that I peak at about 19 PSI at 3000 rpm or so and it dips back to 16 PSI. Does that sound about normal for everyone? I just have a MS CAI so far...

Sounds right. Judging from the dyno sheets @ LSE, the boost spikes when the car hits full throttle and the turbo spools, and then it bleeds back down.

I used to peak at 21psi until I installed the race pipe. Now I peak at about 18psi and immediately settle to 15psi. It seems to be the same for 4th through 6th gear. Boost pressure drops off as RPMs go higher due to ECU programming.

I've read on the mazda3forums that our turbo can handle up to 15.7 psi continuously and run reliably which is why boost will peak as it spools up and then drop back to 15psi. I can try to find the info if anyone would like.

I'll also post the 4th gear boost vs RPM graph from the LSE dyno day.

Let me know if you need help. I'm an expert now; ask Josh :)
I really do.. Its sad lol. But I dont want to install it twice. I have the 3 gauge center dash pod, but I still need two other gauges, plus I want a car audio shop to fiberglass it and the vent piece into one... But I wont have money for that in a LONG time so i was thinking of doing what you did(steering wheel).

I just hate messing with wires, im scared shitless of shorting somethin out...

Normally, I'd spike to 8-9, then settle to about 7... but for the last few days I've been having trouble holding boost. I have to get up to around 4500-5000rpm at WOT to hit full boost, where I'd hit it at 2500-3000 before. I wonder if futzing with the BPV has something to do with it... maybe I should stick one of those spring compressers back in.

Maybe, spring could be weak and letting it bleed off too quick. But it never did that before we put them in, so who knows.

With my ebc turned on it spikes to about 11 and holds 7.5 to 8 in 2nd gear then 8.5 psi in 3rd and 9 psi in 4th gear. On a good day I can hold 9 to 9.5 psi in every gear. Only when the spool time is a little longer and the spike in very minimal. Thats when the car feels insane and the clutch starts slipping. And the boost holds all the way to redline always. With the ebc off it spikes to 8.5 and runs between 6 to 7.5 and sometimes 8 in 4th gear. I am taking the ebc out and selling it. Its not worth it to me to having 11+ psi spikes for 1 to 2 more psi to redline. Whats that, maybe 20 more hp?

Damn guys, all these 20 or so PSI numbers.

20 psi and my motor would spit apex seals for my turbo to chew on like chicklets after a lead pipe to the face.

At least with mysetup it would. Ive heard of guys running 20-25 psi on a 13B rotary but, it takes some work. ;)

Which he will do for perhaps 20-30k miles at most before he needs a rebuild. And perhaps a lot less depending on internals and tuning.
