Inexpensive Laptops...

Hey all, I was just looking at some of the upcoming holiday deals and wanted to see what you all think of a lower end laptop. I already have a nice desktop at home for my more serious computing needs, but I would also like to have a laptop for use in the rest of my apt and when I travel. BestBuy and WalMart are both offering pretty decent laptops for a relatively low price, but I just wanted to get some opinions on the models being offered. The comparison page is here:

Thanks in advance for the help!! :split:

For my money, I'd go with the Compaq, because e-machines < *

But really though, for a web browser and basic office machine, either would probably be perfectly fine.

I'd run as far a way from an eMachine as I could.
Compaq doesn't leave the best aftertaste in my mouth either, but that looks to me like a waaay better deal...and I know computers pretty well.

Despite having a Celeron processor, the Compaq appears to be the better deal. Double the cache and Ram = winnar.

I'd look at these also:

The MSI one looks like a POS, but the Acer looks like a solid deal:

Only 1gb of ram, but a dual core cpu and pretty quick FSB, plus you can add another stick of RAM if ya want. This one would be my pic of the 4.

OK. Sounds like you all feel the same way I do. I am not a fan of either brand, at all. But, its a very inexpensive way for me to purchase a laptop.
