May 8-9: MAC MOWOG #1 and #2 Autocross @ Valley Fair

The MAC autox season is starting up, with the first two events on a Saturday-Sunday in the parking lot at Valley Fair. Last year I was running 70 second runs, IIRC, so a pretty long course.

I'm already registered for, and plan to attend both. MOWOG 1 is full up, but MOWOG 2 still has some spots left (It's on Mother's Day). Last year I went to both without registering and just put my name on the wait list. Both times they let everyone run anyway, so if you didn't get signed up and still want to go, show up at the beginning of registration (7:15am) and put your name down and you'll probably be fine.

Be there or be square. I'll be driving an obnoxious WRX and it will be awesome.

Well, the course this year was A LOT faster than I remember last year... more straights and wider turns. Quite a bit of fun.

I ended up 7th in Novice Saturday and 5th on Sunday.

My runs on saturday were a lot better than on Sunday. I was pushing it to hard Sunday and losing a lot of time scrubbing speed in the corners. Pretty much every car ahead of me on Saturday was either outclassing me (Cayman S 0.o, with mods) or rather significantly modded (the miata had tons of suspension bits and the civic was far from stock as well).

On Sunday it was just a worse day. I don't know about the mods on the WRX, but the Civic ended up winning Novice. Then Brian's 3, and that Focus as pretty stock (had some kind of intake work, but nothing else as far as I know).
