Mazda mechanic?

I love my Mazdaspeed 3, but I hate the Polar Mazda service department. Does anybody have a recommendation for a good Mazda mechanic on the east side of the metro that I can use instead so I don't have to keep giving my money to Polar?

I've heard good things about Morrie's Mazda, but I live in St. Paul and don't want to drive all the way to Minnetonka for service.

Thanks!

I'M OFFENDED!
What are you looking to have done? While by no means professional, most of us can accomplish many tasks. Otherwise, I'd take it to Walser....maybe. I've not been impressed with their service department, but others on here swear by it.

I just want a place I can get scheduled maintenance done, as well as repairs of general wear and tear parts (brakes, coolant flushes, C/V joints, etc.) - basically just the stuff I would usually have done at Polar if I didn't dislike their service department so much.

I've always been completely happy with Walser, but that's South. The question is whether you really need a dedicated Mazda mechanic for most things or whether a good shop wouldn't be more than able to care for most needs.

Walser has failed me for the last time. I'm done with them.

i'm not going back to any polar dealer EVER again...are you talking about polar chevy/mazda on 61?

i've been to polar twice after buying my car. once for an oil change, and lastly for an oil change/tsb work/tire rotation. as others know, i got SUPER pissed the second time because they had a 'critical' car they had to take care of first before they could start working on my car.

as for dealers, when i lived in st cloud. eich motors had the BEST service dept i've ever encounterd. eich may be 80 miles from stillwater/hudson, but IMHO, if you can't find a dealer around the cities you like the drive is worth it.

I'll give Morrie's a try for my next scheduled maintenance and see how it goes.

Thanks for your input, everybody.

The standard service package includes a free carwash, from their slap 'n' scratch. If this scares you, tell the service manager not to wash the car and make sure they put a sign on it indicating so. They've been pretty good about it for me, the last time was a new guy and he forgot the sign. Thankfully I was down there as the car was finished and was able to prevent the paint carnage.

Well, the Morries slap-n-scratch isn't so bad on paint, what it's problem is is that it thinks rear license plates are tasty.

And yeah, I tell Morries to not wash my car either.

Not that it helps any. In my experience, they still wash it anyway. After swirling the paint, it's one reason I don't go to Morries for service anymore.
