Microsoft and Google

So What do you think of Bing. Take away all the windows programs that shit the bed on a daily bases. Lets take a real look at Bing and Google. I am going to start an account on Bing and give it a real chance to beat Google. I will also be setting up a PC at home with the new chrome OS. I will partition a section of my server and run it on an older system. This should simulate the environment that Google is aiming at (mini laptops and home internet pcs).

I will give them both a good chance and a fair review.

Feel free to post your comments anything to do with Google and Microsoft.

Bing has some interesting features that I like, especially for shopping / travel related searches. It's a TON better than live search was or whatever their last attempt at besting google was called.

I'm sticking with google for the most part for all my searching/email/etc needs, it works well and doesn't add in a bunch of fluff that is unnecessary. That and the quality and quantity of information google stores is hard to beat, while Bing seems to often grab the most popular sites for a given search equal to google, Google usually returns more overall information, which depending on what your searching for may or may not be useful.

As for the OS that's a whole nother animal. I think google is smart to target one smaller market / niche market rather than taking on the whole desktop OS market. It will be interesting to see how they do, the OS is still a ways off so It's too early to say much.

I haven't used bing much yet, but it will be hard to tear me away from google. I love the fact that google is both the cleanest/leanest website I visit regularly, and also one of the most useful.

I remain skeptical of MS's ability to rival the utility of google without adding a ton of useless bloat and visual fluff.
