Ok so new poll...vote for which weekend will work best. Majority has picked Duluth area so I will be contacting places and making a reservation after a couple weeks of this poll.

If you know for sure you are coming, please sign up with how many people and sleeping accomodations so I have an idea for numbers. Thanks!

July 9-11 is my only for sure open weekend. I have a wedding to be at on the 3rd so that is definitely out, autocross events on the 18th, 25th and 1st but wouldn't cry if I missed one.

I moved my vote to the 9-11 weekend. It is no big deal to me. I just wanted it to show so it may help other who are up in the air about what weekend.

Ok so since it is looking like July 9-11 for us early planners, I have emailed for more information from 5 different places near or around the Duluth area. One option is also the first place we stayed at ... Indian Point Campground, where Josh learned how to really camp. :) As I get the information from the places I will post results. You all should be happy as most campgrounds have many of these options: bike trails (some provide bikes or rent them), pontoon rental, tubing (with the ride!! possible rental fee), fishing, lakes, 3-9 golf courses on grounds or within a mile, canoe rental, on/off sale, horseshoes/volleyball, swimming beach, softball fields, indoor game room, pool. So I think any of the places will fit most of our desires. July won't come soon enough. ;)

Ok here is what I have so far:
www.biglakeshores.com Awaiting response but offers golf 1 mile away, beach, fishing, outside games and bar with off sale. Approximately $25/day.

www.buffalohouseduluth.com Awaiting response as well, Bike trails, golf course 1/2 mile away, horseshoes, on/off sale, softball fields. Approximately $24/day.

www.indianpointcampground.com We stayed there year one. Nice sites on the water with bike trails and bike/canoe rentals. Approximately $21/day, $25 with power.

www.oaklakecampground.com They have sites 64-71, on the water, available right now for July 9-11 (the map on website). They allow one tent per site with 2 people at $29 per night, $2 for each extra person. They also have pontoon rental at $96 for the day. Free 9 hole golf course, tackle, snack bar, game room, bike trails and outside games.

www.stcroixhavencampground.com They have a group site available for July 9-11, not on the water. They will charge $30 per tent/2 people/night with $3 for extra person. They offer tubing on the St. Croix river at $8 per tube and $4 for cooler tube. They also have canoe rentals. There is a pet fee.

www.timberlinervpark.com They do not have tent sites but said we could rent an RV site for $122.80 for the weekend. I have inquired as to how many tents/people that includes. They offer free bike rentals, bike trails, activity room, tubing, games, pool, fishing, 3 hole golf course and ATV trails. **I think this one is out as they only allow two adults per site...that would be very expensive for tents.

Thoughts, questions, comments, concerns?

Hmm, I will have to peruse those websites. But off the top of my head, I'm leaning towards a place on the water, or within walking distance of water. Pontoon rental FTW?

Our kids are already going to be gone for the weekend of the 23-25th, but we're available for the 9-11th weekend too if that ends up being the one, and I'm sure we'll be able to track down a sitter. I really like the lakefront sites at oak lake, and the drive looks decent too.

I can't commit 100% yet but I'd have to vote Oak Lake as well, that place looks great.

I am a go for July 9-11. Marking it on my calendar now. A place with a nearby body of water is pretty much necessary because the weekend in Winona was awesome.

Oaklake is looking great to some of you. I agree. If I were to call and reserve sites, I would need to know how many. So if you are planning on camping or very interested...please sign up and let me know so I can reserve enough sites along the water. Right now there are three signed up. I will count Nate as in so that would make 4.

As soon as reservations are made, I think we can move it to the finalized plans.

PS-I reread their campground info and there are bike trails as well...so on the water, boat rental, fishing, free 9 hole golf course and bike trails. :)

Make sure you reserve at least one that can fit my camper and has power. Thanks. By the way I am in on this for sure.

Alright count me in, if something comes up for work that I have to be out of town I may have to bail but if there isn't someone to take my spot I'll cover the camping fee for the two nights if it can't be canceled.

Remember if any of you want to share a tent, you should plan on that. We can put the tents anywhere on the sites. He said many groups do it that way where they group the tents and cooking area, etc. He also wanted me to remind us of the quiet hours as some groups struggle with this, I am sure we will be fine.

I have told him we were interested in sites 62-69 and one pontoon. 62 and 63 will be for campers/pop-ups and electric. So like I say, we should book this week for sure.
