MS3 OEM Carbon Fiber hood GB

Hi all, just wanted to let you know about a GB going on with the Toronto Mazda3 club that I thought some of you might be interested in. Here are the details and a link:

Hey guys, I have been looking around to get one of these for a while now and finally found a local guy in Montreal that is willing to make them. Basically I will order a new hood for him to replicate.

The hood will not need clips as it will reuse all oem mounting points. Also the plastic scoops for the TMIC will also be reusable. Also all the edges on the hood will be rolled with a pump, so no rough-cut edges.

Comes in black 2x2 weave kevlar.

NOTE: This is a one time deal, he is not looking to sell them on a regular basis.

The price is 600$ and we need a minimum of 10 orders.

Production is 4 weeks and I will be taking a 200$ deposit once we have reached our goal and order the oem hood for him to replicate. I will arrange to pick up the CF hoods and drive them to Toronto in my dads pick up truck once the product is finished.

Keep in mind I do not have all the specs like weight and pictures as this is a one time deal. I have seen his work on other stuff and it looked good. Since it's oem, fitment wont be an issue.

You might have to join the forum to see everything (although there weren't pics posted as I'm writing this) but these guys are very nice with new folks, so don't be afraid to ask questions or take part if you want.

Something about this deal just doesn't smell right to me. Not saying that the guy isn't legit, but I think this will be a customer service nightmare. If I was in the market for a CF hood I'd be careful with this deal.

I'd agree. These kinds of "I know a guy who will do X for $X as a one-off job" can be a little risky. Not in the sense that they are out to scam people, but in the sense that if something goes wrong with the deal, you're much more likely to be SOL than if dealing with a larger company.
