Netflix raising their rates

So it appears Netflix is increasing their rates. Their steaming + 1 dvd will go up about 60% from $10 a month to $16. Not sure how many of you have Netflix so we'll see if anyone cares (besides me). News sites say lots of people are pissed about the 60% increase. I'm not too happy either.

On a plus note, Netfix stock rose today from the news. On a minus note, I don't have Netflix stock, lol.

We just dropped the DVD part and we will end up saving money by going with the streaming only option.

Yeah, it's not nearly as good of a deal as it used to be. I might have to recheck what we're paying and see if it's still worth it.

IF they were to add a LOT more movies to the streaming, I would not have a problem with the increase at all, as it sits though there is still a lack of good / new movies available via streaming so if that keeps up + the increase I'll certainly have to re-evaluate if it's worth keeping.

I'M OFFENDED!
We haven't had netflix in a while, actually. Seems that the British are somewhat more lax about what they allow for video-sharing......

The price increase isn't all that much for us, since we were already on the 2-DVD plus streaming plan. Looks like it'll be only $3 or so more now (2 DVD's at a time is $12, plus $8 for streaming, so $20/month). Still a good deal for us as it replaces cable TV and having to buy DVDs.

I agree, though we have dumped our cable down to the basic basic. No DVR, no good stations (History, Discovery, USA, ect), but with netflix we get our streaming flix of some movies and tv shows, at least enough to keep us "content" for now.

We also have Hulu+, and that's actually be nice for TV shows. You want to see a shitty selection of movies, look at theirs, lol.

I personally am a fan of Megavideo:) They have most tv shows and movies available online sometimes you just have to do a little searching. I think I pay $10 a month for that doing every three months. For the amount of stuff I can get its is well worth it. You just can't go to their site and type in what your looking for but if you google it you can usually find it.

Yeah, too bad the senate is pushing through a B.S. bill that basically makes all streaming from non-sanctioned sites a felony. If that shit passes, I'd more cracking down on shows on megavideo and the like in the future.. Not that will stop anyone.
