Just compressed air. So it's not running under the same principles as an internal combustion engine, especially not a 4-stroke motor. Probably closer to a 2-stroke: intake valve opens, compressed air enters the cylinder forcing the piston down, intake valve closes and exhaust valve opens, allowing air to leave the cylinder as the piston moves back up.

Still pretty cool!
