As millions face layoffs amidst the roughest economy in a century, the masterminds behind one of gaming's biggest blockbusters have hit pay dirt.

This is true, but it's also cheaper in the long run to get your entertainment from a video game. Think of it this way: Movie tickets and snacks for two people is probably about $30, and you only get one night's entertainment. A new video game costs $50 and you can play it as much as you want with no additional cost.

Agreed on the value aspect. Not to mention that people are doing more house party get-togethers rather than meeting out at a bar, club, or restaurant. This puts a benefit on take-out liquor as a less expensive alternative to drinking out somewhere, and video games can be a great form of party entertainment (as we have seen in MNMazda).

That's pretty much what I meant... video games are relatively cheap and near infinitly reusable.

And people complained about the price hike from $50 to $60. Video games were $50 for almost 2 decades! It's about time inflation hit games too.

Games used to cost more than 50 gallons of gas just a decade ago. Just last month you couldn't even get 15 gallons of gas for the price of one game. Games are getting cheaper!

He has a very valid point though. I can recall when 8-bit Nintendo games were $55/ea. Now, the price of game is still around $55 for a new title. So, technically games have gotten less expensive. Not too mention you get a lot more game for your money.
