What were your shift points? I ran a 13.4@104mph with a 1.8 60' but it's amazing to see how much your car dies at the top end (obviously where you need it for 1/4 mi racing).I ended up going to Rock Falls today and witnessed the Galant dust a SRT8 Charger. The owner of the Charger parked next to me and was astonished that he ran over 111 MPH and got his doors blown off by such a sleeper.
I hadn't been to Rock Falls for 15 years when I ran a '72 SS454 El Camino with a Muncie 4-speed and 4.11's. That car ran 13.99 @ 100MPH. So I was very pleased with my 13.86 ET. Although, I was a little disappointed with the 96 MPH speed. The MS6 is not easy to drive, especially when you can't hear the engine whatsoever while running with such high horsepower cars. Check out the guy's time next to me.
Ohhh...yeah you can stay in 4th and just max it out. You definitely had a solid 60'.No question my driving needs improvement. I was shifting at 6000 which is too late. I'm also running stock-sized tires. I had to shift into 5th gear just prior to reaching the traps. It think taller tires would allow me to stay in 4th. I was very happy with the launch, though.
I tried that and actually ran slower.Ohhh...yeah you can stay in 4th and just max it out.
You sure your throttle plate isn't closing up in those higher RPM's?I tried that and actually ran slower.
