Damn, that's nice looking honestly. Gonna have to look for some pics of the front/back but form that view it looks great. If they actually put a decent engine/trans in it and made it rwd or awd they might be onto something.

Hotness on the turntable!! Here's a pic from the rear, although you can definitely see this rendition doesn't match the real version exactly, because the red body panels are a lot lower on the rear of the real one, which is a good thing IMO because this pic looks like it sexy dust-buster from the back.

Neither pic is the "real" version. The one Tim posted is the concept from the NY Auto Show if I recall. As long as they don't tame down the styling too much, I'd rock one in a minute.

Ah okay that's why it looks familar, I agree if they keep that basic styling it will be a do want, if it comes with a solid powerplant and a 6 speed. Nice to actually see a nice looking 2 door RWD coupe show up (possibly)

I think the Genesis coupe is making some mfgs step up their game on that front. It would be nice to see mazda put out a MX-5 with a bit more grunt under the hood to compete. I know that's more the territory of the RX-8, but I don't have a whole lot of hope that we'll see a rotary with the power and pricepoint to be in the same ballpark as some of the newer turbo 4s.

The MX-5 is fine, but I'd like to see a new version of the MX-6. I LOVED the look of those when the second generation came out back in the early 90's.

MX-6 was wrong wheel drive though. Plus, unless the Mazda6 drifts way into Camry territory, I don't see anything like that coming back.

To bring the "MX6" back, all they'd have to do is make a 2-door 6.

You had 626/626 Coupe, then 626/MX6, then 626/MX6, then just 626, then just 6.

I'd prefer to see a modern iteration of the 808 come to fruition. The 808 was a piston-powered RX3. Take the RX8, slap a DISI in it or something, profit.

Don't know how to edit on this board...

I think there is a market for a new MX6, though. But it would have to be more true to it's "roots" rather than just chopping a door off the current 6. The MX6s worth a shit were always a little bigger than the main competition, and somewhat ended up being in their own "class" because of it. But, they offered more power than what you would compare them to, and usually longer/lower/sleeker styling.

With Mazda focusing on taking weight out of their cars (R3 RX8, next iteration of MX5), i don't think it'd be hard for them to make a ~2700lb car and stick a nice smallish V6 in there making 200-225hp. Take the 6, shrink it maybe... 20%, chop the roof, extend it a little further back to almost but not quite mimic a fastback, offer a 6spd manual, 17" wheels, big-ish brakes all around, and people would come. Civic Si for people who hate the styling, and want a bigger, smoother powerband.

/MX6 fanboi speak.

I'M OFFENDED!
+1 to the 808. The DISI is STARVING for a rwd chassis to stretch its legs in.... and the rx8 is that car. brilliant chassis combined with DISI go fast=win for everyone.

I'd be down for an rx-8 style car with a turbo 4 ;)
