Been contemplating this one for a while, which one looks better? I rarely listen to the radio so it would be more of an appearance modification except for the times when i am in the mood for standard radio chatter.

Ive been having the same conundrum. But ultimately thought the sharkfin was semi out of place and the lower radio strength kept me from buying it. IMO it was out of place because of the 3m tape so theres a slight gap, otherwise yes it looks good on the car. But hwy driving = crappy reception so I need all I can get.

All though I enjoy being unique, I have to say go for it. It looks good on my car, but I've heard others don't like it with the MS3 spoiler. I don't know about the reception problem. My reception got better verses the stubby I had before it. It is fuctional and has a good size internal attenna. And you don't notice the tape anymore then you notice the tape behind door trim or the badges.

On hatches, they're known as "whalefins." I'm a big fan of sharkfins, but they look way out of place on a big expanse of sheet metal like the hatch.

Stubby antenna. Personally I think the sharkfin looks stupid.

That said, if you do any rural driving, get an extendable stubby. Mine gets as good of reception as the OEM when extended, but the looks of a stubby and about half the range when collapsed.

The long debate continues.....I like the stubby on the hatch and sharkfin on the sedans.

Maybe it's time for some new type of antenna?

Yeah, go back to power antennas or putting it in the glass where they are either a styling issue when in use or not one at all.

I guess I should feel awkward driving around with the hideous fin on my hatch, but I don't. I like that it's easy to clean and looks different than every other 3 I've seen on the road. And the reception has been fine for the most part for me.

Antenna in the glass is what I miss most from my 2003 6...so clean.

I have the shark fin on my car and love it! I have my XM radio antenna hidden under it and PFFFT on the poor reception BS, it works BETTER then the stubby that was on the car! I personally like the looks of it better then a goofy ass antenna whip. and it has never been a problem in the car wash. but each to there own! love mine. would do it again in a heartbeat!

TO each there own. I was taking a close look at the profile view with it on, and the curve of the fin matchs fair well the natural curve of the front end of the car, and having a sunroof helps break up the large roof too.
