I'm impatiently awaiting dyno graphs and an update on this, but the word is out on one serious build that has finally put the DISI MZR into the high hp turbo-4 scene. There's been a handful of 400whp - mid 400whp builds that are really just awaiting either built blocks or a turbo that can handle higher numbers. Some have had head lift issues, most have had injector seals issues, and all have had slow builds that are a PITA.
So, dude on MSF kinda comes out of the woodwork. He finishes a build with his PTE 5557 - CP pistons/Pauter rods, 44mm ext gate, FMIC, bolt ons, CP-e SB tuned with flashes, blah blah. As far as I know he's on stock fueling (minus internals on the cam-driven pump) and makes around low 4xx whp.
PTP comes in strokin' his knob one day saying he doubts this platform can make 600whp. Yes 600whp (on a dynojet). Said dude says yeah it can, just needs a proper turbo. Shens ensue, PTP ends up buying a T3 PTE 6262 .82a/r for the guy under the condition if the car doesn't make 600whp in multiple dyno runs he'll get a refund on it. Well, time passes, and the turbo is mysteriously stolen. I'm paraphrasing the shit out of this by the way.
So, moving to today. Guy finishes build with a new turbo (I'm assuming the same turbo but at this time I can't confirm). Added a few other things like a ported intake mani, a bottle, etc. and threw it on the rollers. He made 573whp @ 35psi with the help of a 50 shot and meth. I do not have tq. numbers at the moment.
This, as some of you may know, is incredible news for your platform, along with DI engines in general. The big debate was the fueling window. With DI the injectors have about half the time to spray gas into the cylinders as compared to PI. Along with the ECU tuning, and countless other battles, it seems the light in this tunnel is indeed on and shining brightly.
I'm awaiting the graph and will obviously post it ASAP. I'm assuming this guy's not done either, and neither are a few more builds that are still in the works. Stay tuned!
