Best way to cure rattles are with the upgraded corksport exhaust hangars, and of course aligning your outlets to be centered inside the tips.

Magnaflow, GHL and CP-e are the most popular. GHL's system is pretty neat because it replaces the fake tips (no chance of rattles), looks dang good, and sounds mean as hell.

All the kits are pretty spendy. I had the CP-e dual CBE to match my downpipe (absolutely loved the sound and performance I got from it - well worth the $1,200). Here's a short clip of mine:

Install was pretty easy. A neat trick to get the hangars loosened is windex. It's a savior. If you're going just for sound, get a cat-back. If you want performance, go turbo-back.

Check streetunit.com and therpmstore.com

Most TBE's are around $400-600 for a downpipe, and $800-1,000 for a CBE. You can buy used and save a ton of money (after all, metal's metal) or find some closeout deals from retailers.

Yes, anything before that is turbo. They do have a manifold though. so I guess you could consider that exhaust.

TBE replaces everything after the turbo. In general a catback just nets you sound, and maybe a couple ponies. The real gains are usually in replacing the downpipe and cats.

Yeah, the DP and the cats are the way to start. If you're on a limited budget, start with replacing the cats, and then the DP, and then work on the catback.

Figured this would be the right thread to bump... i need exhaust ideas from people who have tried stuff. Previous owner of my miata (1.6 naturally aspirated) has what appears to be a glasspack in there. I die a little inside every time i see a chopped civic with spray painted wheels and a coffee can muffler, and i know i can out-rice him. Possible options are to just rip it out and straigtpipe it from the cat back, build some sort of resonator from scrap tubes, or buy a muffler of some sort. I'm fine with it being loud, as long as its tasteful. Any suggestions? Comparisons of how different systems sound?

Custom. Have someone do it for you. I had exhaust pros in Richfield do my ms6 and its the best mod I did. I did straight exhaust but you can figure out what you want. Ill have them do the Miata too. Ill be doing dual side exit with a cutout.
