"Who Killed the Electric Car"
Released in 2006, works through the concept of who/what killed the electric car during the later part of the 90's and into the early 2000's.
The best part is at 72:52 minutes, Bush is trying to pull the filler off of the hanger for a hydrogen car
and the face he has is priceless, pure 'WTF is this thing'?
What's nice is the fact that the makers of the movie didn't pull any punches. They instead went ahead and called everyone out that was even a small part of the killing of early technology that, at this point, would have surpassed the internal combustion engine.
Do I personally think that the EV (GM's first electric vehicle from Project 'Impact') is going to fix the issues we have with weather/smog/wars over natural resources? No, no I don't. But would it help a bit, yes I could stand behind that.
The energy issues we have aren't going to be fix by one part of an industry, it wont be fixed by the rapid change of any whole industry. It WILL be changed by people like you and me with the items we use/how we use/and how we dispose of those said items.
(Back to the movie)
As a movie, it held my attention to the end, some of you will probably shut it off the moment it says any thing about one meager company or another. But it was more informative then entertaining. It did a great job of pushing/proving it's views.
Was the EV1 killed off from big businesses? Was it just created at the wrong time? Is there an Area 51 that may or may not have proof of other life in this universe?
The movie will ask all these questions and more, it's up to you on if you are willing to watch it.
