I recently swapped a new engine into my car and I guess I routed the wiring harness over an exhaust pipe :signs066: for the EGR, and it melted the piss out of it. I can't figure out where any of the wires go to repair it since 6 of them are the same color. Needless to say, I don't want to attempt to repair it it's so fucked up.

It's the harness for the charging/starting system
It has:
-charge back wire for the alternator
-wires to the starter
-wire to egr/emissions valves
-wires up to the fuse box
-all the other connectors connect to the main car/ecu wiring harness

This harness is completely removable from the car separately from the main wiring harness.

The question is....Does Mazda still make it and how much does it cost?

Mazda may have the OE part, but it's going to cost you stupid amount. If you can figure out what the part# is, I'd check Rockauto.com..... they have everything.

This may be a dumb question... but are the 6 wires all the same color all black?

Also, I did a couple searches, but I wasn't seeing any ignition wiring harnesses in the places I know to look.

I've looked in junkyards in MN but no one has any cars that are close to me to go rip it out myself, and of the handful of other junkyards that I called around the country, no one seemed to have the knowledge that it was the harness I was talking about, so I'm not gonna risk money on something like that.

I either have to get a new one from the dealer, which will probably make my throw up on my self with the price or figure out how to fix it.

And the wires that are the same are blk/red, and the all come from emissions valves/solenoids. One thing I did figure out was that one of the wires, not sure which one, combines with another gray wire. Who knows, maybe the tech at work can figure it out, he's better than me anyway.

The reason I was asking is because if you have a bunch of wires all the same color, that tends to mean they are all the same thing.... ground, constant +12v, etc. If you haven't already, try first checking the voltage between one of the wires and ground, with the key off, in ACC, and ON. If none of those give you you 12v, try checking continuity with ground.

Are the red/black wires all the same size? If so, are they heavier wires, or just your standard 18awg? (or whatever it is)

I figured everything out, got it all wired up and she's runnin' once more. I was able to get color diagrams working on Mitchell OnDemand5 at home and I discovered all the PRC valve wires had a common hot wire at one point and are ground switched.
I used heatshrink butt connectors, high temp electrical tape and weather insulation and wrapped that in more high temp tape.

The only issue I have now is the car blows oil smoke pretty good on cold start ups or after it's been in the garage over night.
I may have a PRC solenoid connector in the wrong spot, since some of them are interchangeable.

theres really not much to see, just a stock maroonish 626 that ive been fixing ALL problems on, only rust is a wee bit on the pass rear quarter panel, other than the idle/smoke issue and needing some struts, its an awesome car

Most boneyards now a days are linked online. If your local one does not have the part they can search nationwide to everyone else who is subscribed. Glad you got it back online again but if you still want to replace the harness it shouldn't be that hard to locate one. The bad thing is, they charge a percentage of what the dealer would want. The smaller mom/pop yards and U pull it places still give reasonable rates.
