Mazda3 E-brake dissasembly???

The chrome is peeling off my e-brake button on my 06 Mazda3 and its driving me nuts. I need to replace it or just peel the rest of the chrome off. in any case. anyone know how that E-brake handle comes apart??

I seem to recall something about it just being snapped into place. But I don't really recall.

The service manual seems to indicate that there are only a couple bolts in there to get the assembly out, but I'm not sure if you can pull the button out of that or not. It's not very helpful though...

You seem to recall, but not really? LOL

I think he's right though, I remember reading something about the handle just being friction-fit on there. Try pulling it off.

You would thing it screws on or something. I am going to try and take a close look at it this week and see if i can get it out of there. the chrome on the shift know is peeling as well and driving me nuts. guess i will have to buy one of those azn aluminum shift knobbies to fix that but i havent seen any Ebrake handle knobs
