What was the crazy burbon beer you had AJ?

That stuff was THICK.

Goose Island, burbon country.

Also, if anyone wants a bottle of Smoke, I'd likely sell at least one since I wasn't a fan.

I just had a Marooned On Hog Island Oyster Stout. It was pretty darned good for being a canned beer. Interesting tidbit about it. They use oyster shells in the brewing process. No, it didn't taste like dead fish... but you could get hints of a mineral/salty taste.

All I can think of after reading that, is that budweiser/clam juice abomination they sell in the summer. I suppose it would work great if you want to skip getting drunk and go straight to the uncontrollable vomiting.

I wouldn't have drank more than a few sips if it had any fishy/clammy flavor to it at all.

It's like 16/17+tax per bottle, so I figure I'd sell it for a crisp or bent up $20 spot since that's basically what I have into it.
I have 3 bottles left. I'm giving one as a gift, so I'll let the other two go to someone that wants them for drinking. $20 each.

I'M OFFENDED!
Bet you never thought you'd see me in this thread, eh? Just got done with a couple Sam Smith Oatmeal Stouts. Super smooth pour, head you could park a car on. Coffee dark. Nice and smooth drink, light carbonation. Faint sweetness, hints of chocolate and coffee. Doesn't have the ultra bitter finish of a stout, but just a little bite to it. It's ranked world class on Beer Advocate, and with good reason.

Saw your FB post, shocked me for sure! lol

Glad you liked it though! I want to try one of those sometime, but I've found I'm very picky with Stouts and also IPAs. I'm going to keep my Smoke bottles and let some of my beer sit a few years as recommended by others.

Love this shit. Someone else's review that describes it better than I can: "There is a nice semi-sweet scent about this on that reminds me of sweet rolls, with a nice roasted malt scent. Tasting this bock you get a smooth malt taste with very little hops and that nice subtle roasted malt. Shiner Bock has nice clean finish with a tiny sweetness with a good crisp malt finish. This dark beer is delightfully drinkable. This is yet another beer that isn't at all what is appears to be. This a good beer to sway some to liking darker beer, or want to try them. Some say this is just a novelty brew, but those don't know squat about beer or how good this is. This one is like my old friend, good always there, easy to get a hold of, and one of the first beers I had eight or nine years ago. I look back and say what a great choice. I really like this Bock! Cheers!"

Is this just a beer thread? Best affordable whiskey I've ever had was at Xmas this year with my Dad. This was allegedly Al Capone's whiskey of choice, and I don't blame him. Another reviewer: "Templeton Rye’s nose is a balance of sweet and spicy flavors with aromas of caramelized banana, vanilla, cinnamon candy (red hots), bracing rye, and wintergreen. Oak is subtle and not overly pronounced. On the palate, a honey-sweet entry moves quickly to dry rye grain, chili flake, and black pepper. The sweet core of this whiskey keeps it from ever getting too fiery on the tongue. In fact it’s quite mellow (more than likely due to the low proof). I would love to see this maybe closer to 90-95 proof because I feel it might give it a bit more spark. Regardless, there’s a lot of great flavor here. The finish is crisp mint, honey, cinnamon spice, and dries up quickly."

I'm confused.
Hop Stoopid is really good. Goose Island 312. Anything New Glarus, but you can only get it in Wisconsin. Surly Cynic is probably my favorite right now.

Someone start a whiskey thread. I've recently found myself getting curious to try out some different whiskies, and I'd be curious to know other people's opinions. The nice thing about beer is that you can get some absolute top notch stuff for $15, and even if you hate it, you can polish off a sixer in a week easy. Good whiskies tend to be a bit more of a substantial investment! And I'd like to get my pallete trained a bit better before I drop $60+ on a bottle of single malt.
