Figured this would be the right thread to bump... i need exhaust ideas from people who have tried stuff. Previous owner of my miata (1.6 naturally aspirated) has what appears to be a glasspack in there. I die a little inside every time i see a chopped civic with spray painted wheels and a...
There's two RX-8's that frequent ARCC. One is red and stock, other is blue with anodized blue and chrome rims. Both are driven by women that have no idea what they own. The blue one for sure is automatic :'(
Magnetic CAS causes a strange idle... rpms are smooth and holding at just under 1000, but the engine vibrates and wobbles around a lot. Almost seems like an old pushrod engine with a super aggressive cam. Gonna buy a timing light today to see if my shit's all retarded.
Pun definitely...
Yes. While the NA used an optical sensor, and the NB used a magnetic sensor, the actual electrical output is identical. The physical shape of the two units are also interchangeable. The only difference is that the plug sticks out at a slightly different angle, but not enough to cause wiring...
The plug pins all have proper voltage and continuity. I ordered a replacement CAS the other day so i might have her running by week's end. I went with the magnetic one from the NB yattas.
Update: Dunno if anyone is following this anymore, but i'm 99.99% sure i figured it out. http://www.rivercityroad.com/garage/cas.htm"
One comment. It is not unusual for one of the wires in the CAS plug to break. I have seen this happen on a friends car where the yellow/blue wire broke. The...
New coil pack is installed. Plug wires are replaced and sealed with dielectric grease. Still no spark. Looks like its time for a carbureted, distributor ignited v8 swap. I don't care if it only makes 200hp. I'm done with electronics.
