Can't make it to this cruise. Embarassing enough to have a damaged hood, but more importantly, I still work. If this were to flow though Saturday afternoon/evening and into Sunday (an overnight), I'd totally be down.

I haven't talked to insurance yet. And they said they'd be willing to shell out the repair for me. Still I don't even feel comfortable asking for them to pay, even if it is their fault. It's a strange thing to explain haha.

I got a quote of $1547.67 for a new hood, painted and installed. I think I'll look for a used hood in the same color or go with an aftermarket hood. Damn this blows. hah

Yeah. Going to Luther Collision in Bloomington for an estimate with my employee pricing, and Key Collision that's next to my work to see who can get it done cheaper.

I'll get a bodyshop estimate to see how much it's gonna be. I'm almost certain that they'll want to remove the hood, get a new one, prime it, paint it, clearcoat, install the hood and buff and polish it. It already sounds like it's going to be 1-2 grand.

I was thinking of getting a carbonfiber hood, or an MPS/MazdaSpeed hood (that's just false advertising, though).

I'm yet to master engine braking in my 3, but was wondering for all of you other stickshift drivers if you do engine brake, if so then in what situation and how? If not then explain?
