2002 Miata Project

mndsm

I'M OFFENDED!
So my goals have kinda changed now that I'm planning on running in the STR class for AutoX, and had a fucking blast doing so.

I'm going to see if I can find a spot to weight the car with me in it before the weekend, and then kinda document the build.

Plans now include lilghter wheels and probably a new drivers seat as well.
Truck stop. Seriously.

Here's what you need: 4 strong people and 4 bathroom scales.

Have each person stand on a scale to get their "before" weight. Then position the scales at the corners of the car, and have each person heft up a corner of the car at the same time. Subtract each person's weight from the reading on the scale. For extra precision, weigh each person again afterwards in case they lost any weight through sweating, etc and average their weight before subtracting.

+1, I heard a story about bathroom scales, 300 or 350lb use to be the max weight for a scale. Now with the bucket of lard that a majority of Americans have become, most scales at a minimum have to max out in the 400 to 500lb range, so Jay's use of bathroom scales may technically be possible.

I'm pretty sure Jeff The Alignment Guy has scales, as do quite a few other shops around the Cities. Call them up and see if you can swing by quick for a quick weighing.

I have scales.. The fancy Longacre digital ones for weighing Karts. I think the max weight would be high enough

Suspension is installed and for that and an alignment it took just over 2 hours.... WOOT!

Here it sits all washed, clay bar, and waxed up.

omg i was grinning ear to ear around every corner. :) I'm curious how the car looked for those behind me when it would settle into a corner, if anyone ever got a glance of how the car reacted. I know I really want a camera mounted for the next cruise.

I was watching a little bit in Dan's mirror, but I was mostly watching to see if you were going to hang out the back end on any of the wet/gravelly corners. lol

Yeah, the very first set of corners we hit spooked me a bit as I got a tad loose, and from there on out I never did really get into it as much as I think I could have if it would have been all dry and clean. I didn't feel the car get loose really much at all in fact after that, so I'm pretty happy with it. This is also the first car i've owned that I've put suspension on, so I have a lot of shit to learn.

I think the next mod to take place is going to be an intake, and I'm leaning to the Racing Beat intake.

I'd probably be looking at the mounting braket & surrounding cold air duct to keep the temps down and add a little look to the hood.

Going to keep my options open and look around, but would love to have something by the the M4 auto x event.
