HERE'S the link to the campground in Black River Falls that I've been to, and they've got it all. The biggest/best group campsite(s) are right along the beach by the river, but they book up quickly so if this campground makes the short list, availability might have to determine the weekend we go with.

I checked it out and it looks like they might only book for Thurs.-Sat. and Sun.-Weds. I can double check on that. It looks like about 30 per night per tent. A little more for campers. If we do think we will be tubing, we should pick a weekend in later July or August to make sure the water is warm enough. I think I did contact them last year. What do you guys think? Oh and does anyone want to take over the planning of this or do you still want me to do it?

I'm pretty sure I speak for most of us when I say 'As long as you're willing, we LOVE that you're organizing it!' because most of us are lazy slugs when it comes to planning events around here, and your camping trips kickass!!

Here is what I found out about the Black River Falls place:
Jessica, our group area does not have electric or water. It is "green" camping for tents and small canvas popups that need no hookups. This group area will accommodate 4-8 tents depending on size. I am assuming you are interested in weekend dates. These are the available weekend dates:
July 1-4;July 22-24;Aug.5-7;Aug.19-21;Aug.26-28;Sept.2-5

So if you are still interested knowing that there are no hook ups for the camper or anything else, I can survey a weekend. What do you think?

Are we talking about group site 1 or group site 2 in the map?

If it's the site next to the beach, I'd say it's looking pretty good. Being right next to the beach would be awesome, and personally I'm not too worried about not having electricity. Plus, I bet we could make a fun little cruise by taking the south route instead of cutting across 94.

Also, I just wanted to echo Pete's post... as long as you're willing to organize this, Jess, by all means go for it. You've done an awesome job putting together the camping trip in the past, and I REALLY appreciate the work you've put in!!

Ok if you have checked out the site, there is a group site available...I believe I asked about the beach site. It is about 30 per night per tent and we can have up to 8 tents. There are no connections. There are a lot of activities, it is in WI so keg return is easier. Tubing is $10 per trip but the water should be great in August. There are a few other weekends available but they are holidays or my BF's bday so the available ones are up to vote on. Please vote ASAP on the weekend if you are interested in going to Black River Falls campground. If you are interested in another weekend or another site, vote no to BRF so I can keep looking for the best place for us! Let's try to pin this down in the next week or two so that we don't lose a spot if we want it. I am so ready for summer it is ridiculous!!

The "Group 1" campsite is a pretty high-traffic area, so I'd recommend trying to nail down the sites 28, 29 and 30 depending on how many people are able to commit. If there are any campers, then site 32 would be a great option. I recommend these sites mainly because they're away from the main traffic areas (bathrooms and beach), yet they're within 20' of the river. The current is strong enough to provide a nice background noise, yet it's a nice meandering float on tubes (DEFINITELY pack sunblock for floating!!!!). The cabins and full electic hook-ups are up a decent hill, sort of like how the campground last year was setup, but with none of the season-long campers down by the water.

If they are fine with it, I'd be all about getting a few sites clustered together vs a group site. All I need is a tent, some beer, and a table for grillinz, and I'll be set for the weekend.

I think BRF looks as good as anything else, so I'm in.

I just voted yes to the location, date wise it's far enough in advance that any should be good.

I'm interested as well, looks like a great place to go. I voted for the two later dates; already have camping plans for the 5th-7th. I'm glad you’re getting this organized this early; my summer schedule is already filling up!

Alright I put another email out to them to see if those sites are available for the weekend of August 19-22 so I will keep you posted!

Ok I finally got a response. If we want that area at that campground then we have to pick another weekend. Can someone edit the poll? I am not sure how to change the weekends. Here is what she said for those sites:
Jess, sorry, those sites are booked for those dates as well as the other weekends in Aug. However, Those sites are available for the following dates:
June 3-5; June 10-12; June 17-19; July 8-10; and Labor Day weekend. If you have sites #28-31 you can use it as a group area and have 6 or 7 tents. Depends on how large the tents are, how many people will be in the tents and how many cars you have. Rose

So if you are interested in an earlier weekend, we could try it. Remember the water for tubing might not be the warmest early on. Opinions??

I don't remember what part of the Summer we went camping last year, but if people are onboard with the sites I recommended (less foot-traffic back and forth to the beach, and more shade available), then I'd lean toward the July 8-10th weekend. As Jess mentioned, the water will be warmer by then, yet it won't be quite as hot as August can typically get. Just my $.02

Ok guys if I don't get more in on this I can't book it. We are probably looking at July 8-10 if we book those sites. It sounds like this place books up fast so we have to act now!

Let's start a new thread with the July date locked in and see how many are willing to commit. Hopefully we can get 6-8, because this trip would be awesome!!!

We can do that but I am concerned we will get committment too late and the sites will be gone. I don't want to book if there isn't enough. What do you think? Should I just book it? It seems better to have the committment before reservations.

Is there a cut-off at some point so we can cancel a site or two if necessary without getting nailed? If there are only a 2-4 of us, 2 sites would be plenty. When we went with friends about 5yrs ago, there were 6 couples on 2 sites with plenty of room for all, but we were all tenting it...no campers.

Ok I will check with her. I don't see an interest from Nate this year so who knows on the camper deal. We are still shooting for July 8-10 then and I will book all the sites and start a new thread?

Here is what I found out...

Jessica, All of those sites have NO electric. What I need from you now is a phone call from you giving me information - names, addresses of the 4 tenters plus your credit card info.
Your credit card will guarantee the reservation until May 1 when it will be charged a 2 night deposit for each tent. Min. of 4 tents for 4 sites.
or
Each of your 4 tenters may telephone me with their credit card and I will charge them individually.
Price is $30 ($31.65) per tent per night. See our fees on the web site. This means if you have 7 tents all total on arrival the other 3 tents may pay when checking in. If you also want #32 held I will need 5 deposits instead of 4.
Or do you need electric sites? I do have a small group area with electric away from the river - sites #15-17.

So this means that if you want to be in on a tent site...you will need to hold the reservation yourself. Since she is planning on charging a deposit for each site each night on May 1st, I am not willing to put all of that up front. Now she is stating that if you want to have two or three tents per site, it seems fine and would only need one deposit ahead of time. Also notice no electricity on any of those sites.

***SO here is where I am at, IF You want to go to this campground on the weekend of July 8-10, YOU must commit this weekend by posting or PMing me so I can let them know

IF there are not enough people, we will start from scratch for a different place...
