I drove all the way from Fontana Dam, NC to Milwaukee with the hood in the back of a pickup and never once got a second glance by any cops. The people in the tolls thought it was funny though.

Oh yeah, anybody else ever been to the Tail of the Dragon in North Carolina? I've been the last 4 years with the Saturn guys.

We've been working our way up to a TotD meet. For now, we've been keeping busy on some backroads in SW wisconsin.

Its definitely worth checking out and the lodging at Fontana isn't expensive if you get 4-5 people in a cabin and split it up. I don't know how they do it, but last year I spent under $700 for Thursday thru Monday with lodging, food, gas, car washes, tolls, everything.

The rotary guys probably wouldn't like me too much, I'll stick with Sevens Not Stock.

Been a while since I've been on here. Anyways I drove it a bit in spring of 2010 and the LT1 decided it didn't like oil pressure and got a heavy knock. Teardown time.

That exhaust was a pain in the ass to get out

Pieces of something found in the oil pickup

Glittery oil

Mmmmm, bearings

New forged goods to mate with the stock reground crank. Manley .020 slugs and Eagle 6" rods.

TPiS/AFR heads that need a good cleaning

Meziere electric water pump

new guages

engine bay stripped down, sprayed with POR15(I did a bad job, but it took care of the rust that was there)

Meanwhile, I purchased a set of s5 tails, FTP lenses, and sanded down all the other lenses to get rid of the tint(not my thing). Also got a couple interior parts to replace some cracked ones.

Mounted the gauges up.

Ooops, that video above was after I put the exhaust on and noticed a "knock". Turns out I didn't clearance the timing cover enough for the double roller chain. Pulled it back off and a little work with a grinder and all was good. Couldn't hear it open headers. Here's the real first startup.

Nice work! Hope to see it out at some meets this summer!

Any more details on cleaning up the engine bay? I've got my motor pulled and need to do some detailing in there while it's out.
