Anybody gonna get the COBB ACCESS PORT when it drops?

We most likely will not take deposits. Keep in mind that most of the distributors will have AccessPORTs on the release day as well. But initial releases are always a lot of work and sometimes no matter how hard we try we may not be able to take care of everyone on the first batch.

At the initial release the tuning software may not be out for the Professional AccessTUNERs. That is anther long bit of work as well.

Fuel pumps on Direct Injection cars can raise fuel pressure at the injector. If they do under any condition(s) then a change in fuel mapping will be required.

We can tune out boost spikes. Fixing the fueling may work on stock ECU cars, but with ECU tuning things may be different.

“What have you been able to do to the MS3 so far?â€

We have been tuning for everything from stock to TBE, Intake, and FMIC. The results thus far are very good.

“Has your project car been flashed with the AP? I know there was an after
Sema buzz that someone from Cobb said the car has never been flashed with the AP.â€

Didn't know we had not said specifically that we have tuned the MS3 with the AccessPORT, but here it goes........

It has been flashed with the AccessPORT and we have been doing some tuning and testing in house for some time now.

We are still doing the same. Dialing-in the tuning, seeing what maps we need access to etc. We had been doing tuning before SEMA. When Tarzan (Eiji Yamada) drove our MS3 at GT Live (last spring) it was in the primary stages of tuning and his first comment was that the car was powerful. At that time we were using our in-house software and skipping the AccessPORT (as some of the changes were being made to AccessPORT base programming at the time) but that work has been completed and we have been using beta AcccessPORT tools in-house for some time.

“Will it be able to turn off secondary o2's for catless dp's?â€

Yes

“Can you raise idle?â€

Yes, but it has not been required thus far.

“How is the boost control, is it similar to some of the high end BC with gear and/or rpm based boost control?â€

the boost control is MUCH better than any form of aftermarket boost control hands down. It has the ability to alter boost for gear, speed, RPM, throttle position, ambient barometric pressure, and other factors.

“What AFR's are you tuning for especially in the high rpms were it dips into 9afr?â€

We are not targeting one specific AFR. To do so would be taking things back. We are leaning things up in most areas of full throttle, but not to a specific AFR. Different RPM, throttle positions, and different load values require different AFR's for power, reliability, and efficiency.

The SF Intake airbox is not ready yet. We are having to make a few changes to make it easier to produce. Pretty common when we get feedback from our laser cutting and bending contractor. Smile

Many of the hard parts for the AccessPORTs of all models are the same. And all of the engineering is done there. It is programming from here. We prefer not to release data until all testing is done. Just our way of making sure people get the most correct info possible. We prefer that the hype comes from how it will be released.

To change maps you only have to plug in the AccessPORT and switch maps. Takes a few seconds.

If any of you guys are gonna get this and tune it yourself I would love to ride along while you tune so I could learn how. I know it is very early to post this since it won't be comming out for a while still but I have always wanted to learn how to tune my car so I figured I would ask.:bengals:

Sounds like just the tool for my build, but don't think I'll be tuning it myself, unless, like you, someone can help me out. Did they give any type of time frame to when this is coming out?

I'm planning to get it, but probably not untill spring of 09', I want it to be out for a while and let other people figure out what works and what doesn't, then I'll pick it up. And that'll get me closer to being out of warranty too.

I'm pretty green when it comes to tuning, I did a little when I had my 97 GTX with the DHP PowerTuner, not sure how much different the COBB stuff will be.

I'M OFFENDED!
Yeah, I want to see what it does in conjunction with other mods, ideally, i'd like to be there with my car and a COBB car on the same dyno, to guage differences. As of yet I have not been terribly impressed with the cost/hp ratio of current parts out there, and want a little more bang for my buck if you will, before I start dumping oodles of green into the car.

It should be comming out in about 4 weeks with stock maps. And then by the end of the year they will have the Pro tune version out that will allow tuning.

It will be almost the same thing. So when this comes out there will be a bunch of people convrting it to the 6

The 6 and 3 use different ECU's afaik, so I doubt it'll be 'converted' by the general forum community.

Speed 6 ECU = different. IIRC CPE has a piggy back for the speed 6 and that's all I know.

I'll keep my jokes about ms6 quiet, don't want to start a mod war! ms6 mods vs. ms3 mods, lol.

And then there is poor little Joe with no boost.

In all fairness, that mod war would be over quick because both Nate and AJ have the power to ban other mods, no one else does.

Well at least the MS6 crew has something over the MS3 crowd ;)

Just playin.

almost slightly short of or not quite accomplished; all but) "the job is (just) about done"; "the baby was almost asleep when the alarm sounded"; "we're almost finished"; "the car all but ran her down"; "he nearly fainted"; "talked for nigh onto 2 hours"; "the recording is well-nigh perfect"; "virtually all the parties signed the contract"; "I was near exhausted by the run"; "most everyone agrees"

there is the definition almost so all you trolls can go suck an egg. lol

But the speed 6 will get a lot of help from the 3 and I bet that someone will easly convert this tuner to work on the 6.
