I know I'd be down for a Honey Weiss or similar, and if I still have the truck, I could haul it up with it tapped and route to the cab, just for random taste tests or something. lol

Otherwise, I'm thinking we'll bring a few 6ers and a lot of ice to keep things cool for the trip. I'm kinda hoping I still have the truck for this event, will make things easier. Positive note, we just bought out tent! WOO HOO!

If we get Honey Weiss, Miller Lite, Coors/Coors Light I'm in on the keg, others would depend on what it is.

also 9am FTW!

I'm looking at Tubes, the ones you pull behind the boat, anyone gonna ride if I buy/bring one?

If you want to haul up an 8-gal of honey weiss, I'd be all over that action. Otherwise, I THINK the last couple years we've done Miller Lite. I'd be fine with that too.

Also, I'd probably hop on a tube for a couple of rides. If you had some crazy monster boat I'd pass, but I think I can handle what your boat can dish out. lol

+1 on the beer choices. Same for me, if there is a keg, I will fill my glass with that...

Did anyone decide on whether I should bring the keg cooler or is Nate bringing a garbage can?

Both AJ and I would be in on the keg *only* if it's Honeyweiss.... otherwise we'll bring our own stuff. :)

Oh, and I'm all over being pulled by a boat, probably the only thing I'll be doing on the lake. The rest of the time will be golf and beer.

What tent did you guys decide to go with and why? I only ask because we're in the market for one too, but I haven't looked very extensively.

It's a Coleman Laurel Creek tent (sleeps 6). From what I can tell, it's not being carried anymore but got decent reviews. We picked it up for $79 (reg. price $169). I liked it because the height in center is 6 ft, so you can stand in the tent.

I hate how they rate tent sizes. We have a "4-person" tent, but I barely consider it adequate for 2 unless you are very cozy with the other 2 folks.

My wife was asking about how the food/meals works on this trip. I haven't heard anything about coordinating meals, so I'm guessing it's each-site-on-their-own, correct?

It's a mix of community and personal stash.

Generally everyone chips in a bit o this and that for community use (hot dogs, bread, condiments, soda), and they usually have some things for their own use (those spendy sausages from Von Hansens, or your favorite snacks). And if we end up lacking anything for community supplies, we just collect a few bucks from everyone and head into town... pretty informal.

Is there anything in particular we should be packing? I for one, have not gone camping since I was about 10.

Off the top of my head:
-folding chairs
-bug spray
-sunscreen
-air mattress (if you don't like sleeping on the ground)
-cooler
-long pants / jacket in case it gets cool at night
-paper plates / plastic silverware
-camp stove (if you have one)

Maybe others can add to the list?

Are there grills around that we can use, or what exactly do we bring to eat?? I don't have a camp stove...lol.

Does anyone have supplies for smores already purchased? If not, I can pick that stuff up.

um...tent?

j/k. Flashlight and/or lantern for late night bathroom trips. I also always bring a rug to leave outside the tent/camper because leaving your shoes outside as you're going in and out throughout the day helps keep things a lot cleaner. Earplugs might be a plan too, with all of the drunken snoring that's sure to happen.

Jess and I will bring our camp stove and we'll also throw in a pair of the camp sandwich makers to be able to make sammies over the fire, and we've got a few marshmellow roasting sticks we'll have on hand.

Good question on the grill. Most camp sites have a charcoal grill (like the ones they have at picnic grounds and in parks), but a gas grill or two would be nice. I know I'll have a little portable gas grill to help cook fudz. And smores are always a good call! But anything easy to prepare like hotdogs or precooked brats are a good idea. Personally I'd steer away from raw meats just because you have to be careful to keep them cold and not let the juices contaminate the rest of your cooler. Things that don't require refrigeration are obviously good. Breakfast is the other thing. I like to bring oatmeal packets and instant coffee so you can get some hot grub just by boiling water.

But yeah, the main considerations are "easy to prepare" and "easy to store".

Last year we were lucky enough to have a group site that had a picnic shelter in the middle.... Jess, any idea how our accomodations are looking this year? I'd image we can make a central meal area somewhere in our camp area to make things easier. It's just a lot more fun and relaxing IMO if we take a community approach to things like that.

Ok, so I'll bring some oatmeal and coffee as well (unless I can bum 1-2 cups for Saturday & Sunday morning from you). Are there places to run & grab something to eat (ie McDonald's, etc) if needed? lol
