Leinie's cruise ftw... whether it's the fall event or not I'm down.

Should we start a separate thread for a leinies beer cruise? Cause I 100% want to do this, but I don't want to step on AJ's toes, since it sounds like he had a different plan in mind for a fall event....

Yeah, let's do a separate thread for this and perhaps a poll to pic a date in August or September?

I would be up for the cruise/hotel, all depends on weekend/price. Also, would be willing to roommate it with some people as I might be alone for this one. So, I will vote, but AJ, I am serious but not definate at this point. K?

If this work for people let's lock this down and I'll start looking at spring cruise again. This would make a fine fall event, and I'll let those who know the roads plan it.

I am also game for finding a hotel. Daytime cruises are fun, but finishing in the same place you started (home) just seems like a waste of a day.

by that logic though, getting a hotel just turns it from a waste of a day into a waste of a weekend

Just sayin... the leinies cruise sounds like a 1-day gig to me... 2 hours there, kill a few hours at the brewery, 2 hours back. I don't know what we'd do with an entire day+overnight there. Which is why I think this should maybe be a separate event from the fall cruise if people are looking for an overnight event.

Drive to brewery, drink a lot, sleep at hotel, drive home. Same as an overnight thing.

A few things about the Leinie's brewery-

They only give you 2 cups, 4 ounces each, of samples.
They do not serve (other then above mentioned sample) or sell beer.
The tour only takes ~40 minutes.

If you're going just for the brewery tour you'll be disappointed. Maybe it could be made in to a camping trip as well? I don't know, but I do know the roads I took to get there are awesome.

That's about what I would have thought... I mean, if people want to do that as an overnighter, that's cool. I can just think of better places to do an overnight cruise, IMO.

i still want to hit up the brewery because of the drive there and back (maybe even better as a later cruise to see the fall colors) and because it's just the right distance for a day trip. Not to mention that I <3 leinies!

I like this idea. Sample beer + tour, then find a river/lake, camp+drink=win.
