I'm confused.
So today I had to do a community service project for school and we went to Feed My Starving Children and I pretty much thought it was a great thing to do. FMSC is a non profit organization that packages and send food to starving kids in needy countries. Essentially its a Christian organization, however they won't discriminate if you aren't a Christian, in fact a lot of the kids that receive the food aren't Christians.
I'll do my best to give a basic run down of what you do. You go in, they talk for a bit and they show you a short video. Then you split into groups and each person has a job such a pouring the different ingredients into the bags, weighing them out, sealing them up, packaging them up, etc etc. This only goes on for a few hours, I think you can choose how long you'd like to do it for. Then they show you another video, give you a sample of the food and tell you how much food you prepared and how many kids you fed (which was the best part).
Over all, it was an amazing experience. It opens your eyes to how lucky we are to have what we have here in this crazy mixed up place we call the USA. You don't have to donate or pay to go there. We need ten people to book a spot, other wise they do have walk in days on certain days of the week. I'd like to be able to get a group of 10 together though so we can book a spot and go as a group. We could go out there, volunteer then go out for lunch or dinner some place.
Please let me know if you are interested. If enough people are interested I'd like to get us booked up. I'll definitely try to make it for a Saturday as well.
Please post as well as vote.
If you want more information, feel free to check out their website: www.fmsc.org
