How to tell when you need new engine mounts?

I was originally planning on doing StreetUnit mounts when my side mount goes again (because I know it will), but apparently they're kinda harsh for NVH. CP-E offers the side mount with two different stiffness options, and once broken in the softer one should be pretty close to OEM for harshness, so I'll probably go with that.

Street Unit has the CP-E ones, as well as the SU ones. I would avoid PG at all costs if you want your parts this year.

I actually went with a top speed mount. They seem to be a it on the 3 forums and are basically the stock mount fitted with a solid bushing as opposed to the liquid filled POS. Should be here in a few days and I'll let you know how it works.

hey ping do you take the light rail by chance? think i've seen your car by the fort snelling station.
I do once and a while but I usually park at the 28th ave. station. I have seen a few cars that are similar to mine rolling around town.

Look what just showed up! It's the new Topspeed Mount. I'm putting this in tonight after work and I'll post up any review later.

So this is what came off the car yesterday. 100% trashed.

And here is the new one, installed and already making my drives better.

So far the vibrations that everyone seems to talk about after installing a new mount are not bad at all. Way less than I thought. Of course that could be because of all the motor slop and vibrations I have delt with for the past who knows how long.

Anyway. So far I and very presently impress with this mount for the price.

Wow, that mount is kinda hot. I like the blue too. And you're right, that old mount was COOKED. Like, well done.

Where did you end up picking that up from? Darkstar Motorsports says they carry them, but their PayPal seems kinda fucked right now. I'm sure I'm gonna cook my mount again eventually, might as well know where to buy the replacement.

I picked mine up on ebay. Got the tip from a guy over on the Mazda3forums. I think that they are 10% off right now. The guys was real easy to deal with and very prompt with any questions I had.

On a side note, How do you know if either of the other mounts are going bad? I'm not sure how long my passenger side mount was busted but I'm sure the other mounts took on some extra strain. I'm wondering if I should be replacing them as well.

Probably a good idea to go ahead and do them all. They're cheap, and they'll save you in the long run. You don't want a MM to completely fail.... not that I know about it or anything.

The RPM Store may have them as well... that's where I ordered mine from for the 6.

Also, the NVH issues people talk about tend be exaggerated in my opinion.
